    Diving in Taiwan

What I meant was that when I spoke to Eddie at the Green Island, he told me that he only does shore dives for people who book through him. All I can report is what I heard him tell me.

If you are going to Kenting, I would highly recommend Shellback Diver , his outfit is 1st class, his prices are very competitive and reasonable, he is knowledgable about all the dive sites in the area, and he is American so you'll have no communication issues with him. The shore dives that I...

    Diving in Taiwan

I did not call it a fraud; people read things on the internet and make the assumption that to go on a hammerhead dive is as easy as punching hammerhead on your key board. You must be well qualified, and come during the right season, and then find someone to take you. Personally I think there...

    Diving in Taiwan

I accept shellbackdiver's response as more accurate than mine. People read about the hammerhead dives on the Green Island Adventure website and think that they can go and sign up when that really is not the case. When I was there I was lucky enough that the winds shifted from the north to the...

    Diving in Taiwan

The hammerhead dives are too dangerous at this time of year due to the winter currents and are not an option right now. You would have to go back at other times for those dives.

Also the accomodations provided by the dive shops are mom and pop owned tiny rooms with private bathrooms that were clean and included in the package price. They pick you up from the ferry and provide you with a scooter to get around on. You need an international drivers license for the included...

    Diving in Taiwan

The corals were incredibly awesome, but the critters and large fish were scarce. The Taiwanese locals tend to catch and eat everything that they think tastes good. They fish with hook and line and spear fish also. Dives were about $35 each with tanks and weights, and a package deal got the price...

I dove the Green Island last week and the water was 85 degrees, so 3mm is plenty. You could dive with less, but full suit protection from all the volcanic rock is a plus. I don't know the water temp in Kenting, but it couldn't be much different.

    Looking for Dive Buddy

Hi, I am looking for a dive buddy at Millbrook tomorrow, also. I could be there by 10am. Let me know if you are interested.

    Mask clearing

My NAUI instructor insists on being able to don and purge mask, snorkel, and fins at the bottom of the diving well in the pool as a skill associated with advanced certification. Try swimming to the pool floor, remove your mask, snorkel, and fins, place them on the bottom. Then swim to the...

    Hello ScubaBoard

He says that getting used to using a reel is something that takes practice, something that should be done before you even get into the water. Diving on wrecks that are broken into pieces warrants the use of a reel to find one's way back to the anchor line. My NAUI training has always emphasized...

    Hello ScubaBoard

My scuba instructor suggests carrying a dive reel when wreck diving. The choices seem to be exhausting, so I am trying to figure out what reel I should purchase. Any suggestions?

    Hello ScubaBoard

I have been diving for almost a year now. I often read postings on ScubaBoard to help answer scuba related questions that I find my self asking. I appreciate all of the information that your experienced members have to offer. I am working on my NAUI advanced certification, and I'm hoping to go...
