Kootenay Lake, British Columbia, Canada 110M (360') wreck dive

Between August 28 and September 2, a team of experienced scuba divers re-located and dove on the remains of the 25m (84 ft) sternwheeler “City of Ainsworth” in Kootenay Lake, BC. The City of Ainsworth was lost during stormy conditions on November 29, 1898. Its’ whereabouts were unknown until...

    JJ vs Tiburon weight

For flying purposes, what is the empty weight difference between a JJ and an ISC Tiburon? The JJ website says to expect around 20KG for that unit empty (seems high) and the ISC specs say 5 KG for the Tiburon empty (seems way low). No wings, backplate, etc.. Just the can and counter lungs.

    My hypoxic incident

I said I would someday get this out there so here it is. I'm putting it here in the RB forum and not the near misses forum as it is more for RB people to learn from than the general diving community. In November 2020 I was doing a shore dive near Nanaimo, BC. First day of a 5 day trip. It was...

    Vancouver Island Cave push

The past week (August 24 to Sept 2) a group of explorers from Western Canada and the PNW went to the Reappearing River cave near Port McNeill on Vancouver Island to attempt to push the End Of Line (EOL) at 160' depth that was established by John Pollack and David Sawatzky in the late '80s. We...

    Atlantic wreck, Lake Erie

Does anybody dive this wreck? I had Mike Fletcher come do our dive show in Edmonton 4 years ago where he talked in great deal about his trials and tribulations with this wreck but it never occurred to me to ask him if people were still diving it.

    Anscomb wreck, Kootenay Lake

Please be aware that the ramp to the dock that divers used to access the Anscomb wreck at Woodbury marina was wrecked in a recent storm. Plans to fix it are being worked out for sometime next spring but for now there is no shore access to the wreck that doesn't involve scooters..

    Minnewanka

Looks like Minny is finally clearing up (a bit). I've read reports on the AUC FB page and on Scubaboard, etc that viz on the dam is around 10-15'. Which back in the old days (pre-2013) was pretty decent for this time of year. I don't imagine we'll be back to the 50-60' stuff we were used to in...

    Mamro down

Heard over the past week or so that Danny from the Mamro has decided to shut down his operation. Sad news for West Coast explorers like me and others because Danny was always up for doing something different. I've done most of my most interesting excursions off the Mamro which includes finding...

    Testing requirements

Do the agencies require shops to have their air tested regularly anymore? I heard that PADI stopped the quarterly requirement a few years ago due to liability concerns and I believe that NAUI still requires quarterly but what about TDI/SDI, SSI, and the others? In my town of the 5 shops, 2 get...
