Have you ever run out of gas, or been close?

had shot a grouper and he was lodged under a ledge about 90 fsw. pulling hard on the tether but he wouldn't budge, checked my gauge and guess what? it read 0 psi, not good. I'm thinking I might not get this fish, or might even lose the gun, or.........,:shakehead: anyway tied safety sausage to...

Eel Attack in Cozumel (The Feeding of Lionfish)

What you say makes sense, of course I'm getting in late to this thread and haven't read hardly any of them but all I can contribute is that I've run into large ones often and never have been bit, I mean just the thickness of the mask glass away when looking for lobster, looking eye to eye, but I...

    AL 80's, bc's and Nikonos IV-A w/strobe

Have some stuff on Craigslist, 5 AL80s, 4 BCs, Nikonos IV=A and strobe. Ultimately trying get two tanks to hold more gas, prefer thinner tanks but realistically settle for lp95's + (not ready to give up yoke valves yet) Scuba tanks and gear Palm Bay, FL

Purchasing and diving from a boat

Go Jap 4 stroke, and no sterndrive if in saltwater. It's always nice to have someone on board at all times, but if not I follow anchor line down and first check anchor for a good hold if not put it in one. After that I don't worry about the boat (key never leaves ign switch). BUT, make sure you...

How much will you spend on dive-related gear/training/travel/etc in 2011?

If I can get in 30 dives in the upcoming year, would prefer 48 (4 per month), but realistically only get 2 per month, Nitrox card for 10 dives $70 x 2 = $140, fishing license $18 =$158 gas for the boat $240 (12 trips) not counting gas pulling boat or insurance or registration for boat and...

    New Student

I'm not the most active on this forum but check in from time to time, but let me be one of the first to say welcome aboard! I usually check in on spearfishing planet, but there's definitely more to diving than spearfishing. Forums are a great place to learn (and laugh). Especially when it comes...

How do you store your gear for transporting?

Haven't followed the thread closely but since the original question was out to what others did for storing dive gear, I have a large green mesh bag that I got years ago in a Panama City, FL dive shop but everything aside from weights and tanks fits in it, then it clips on my ranger ltd bc and...

need help..anyone else diving a Zeagle Tech

I don't have a tech but the ranger ltd. I dive almost always off a boat, and if I have any air at all, going down head first cause my dumps are on the bottom of the bc. But like someone else mentioned I like going in the water ready to go without any air in the bc heading straight down. Times a...

Redundant air sources and the new diver

Agreed about tiny SA, of course a lot has to do with ones objectives in diving. I personally I dive with 27cf pony and Have strongly URGED the people that come on my boat to think pony (but not SA). Ponies are a redundant tool that only makes sense, in an environment that will not compromise...

    Regulators and Nitrox

just did a SSI nitrox course. and for rec diving and basic Nitrox your regulator should be fine. Now whether you'll build up CO2 and have a temporary post dive headache I don't know, but it won't hurt the regulator!
