Actually that should read, If your local dive shop doesn't support you, take your money to a different dive shop. Customers can only give a shop an opportunity to give them good service and products, after that the burden is all on the shop.

Your source is misinformed, not GUE or any other agency or private group has the power to open or close sites owned by the state. There's a group that has worked very hard to get some of the closed sites open in N. Florida and has had some success, but it's not an easy task.

I'd really like to hear who you're taking cave training with at Wakulla Springs, it's been closed to all cave diving for MANY years except by special permit holders.

There is a large underground lake just off of I-10 on the continental divide, it's part of an ongoing gold mine so permission is next to impossible to get unless you happen to know the current lease holder.

I use 40" on all my stage regs, all are Apeks turret style. Guages on short hose bungeed to the reg.

Or you own 50+ regs between you and your SO, 2/3s of which are kept in Mexico, and it would break the bank to have a shop do them.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, but if you're sticking to Apeks or Hog regs, a OxyHackers book, a couple tools, and a little common sense can get the job done. For tools a couple 40-42 spanner wrenches, a couple sizes of metric allen wrenches, a few common tools, and a hex head inline...

Actually Rob it doesn't effect it at all, I run all my Mexico Gavins on a fixed snap and make lots of pretty long runs with it out beside me in the low ceiling caves. I run my OW scooters with a loose clip so I can do lots of stupid stuff, but for the really long runs I really like the fixed snap.

We've never seen any frogs or anything else living in our mine water, but they do pipe it down the mountain for cattle and wildlife water so we're probably ok. Our water does dissolve alumunum cans, though it takes a couple years. Old mines are pretty cool, ours has oar cars and tracks, a wheel...

Although it is a great facility with size and the big pool, it was a tough place to support during the best of times, these times don't qualify.
