I have dived in water pretty bad (seattle in polluted Lake Union - 1-2 ft vis) and I'd say it does better than any other light I've owned. it has a very cncentrated square beam in the middle, with a light flare around that so I think the square beam would punch.
Sorry, I don't know the angle, and the literature does not say. I'd say it is not extremely narrow, and not extremely wide. I included diffusers to attach if you want a wider beam. I used one diffuser and it made it very smooth. Did you see the video in the description? That is with one diffuser.
