What life is like on a Submarine.

HOW TO SIMULATE LIFE IN THE NAVY 1. Buy a dumpster, paint it gray and live in it for 6 months straight. 2. Run all of the piping and wires inside your house on the outside of the walls. 3. Pump 10 inches of nasty, crappy water into your basement, then pump it out, clean up, and paint the...

    Panic

What we did in my OW class was make sure that our air and our octo's were in an accessible position even if suddenly knocked from us. You should be able to lean to your right side for your air and be able to swing your arm underneath your hose and get the reg in your mouth. I know it's uneasy...

    Narcosis

Wow, thanks for all the responses so far. When I use the term 'Narc'd" I mean feeling the symptoms of narcosis. I acknowledge that everyone experiences the physiological aspect of narcosis when diving. Thank you again! I look forward to reading more responses.

    Rescue Questions

I'm getting ready to take my Rescue Diver course and I haven't read any of the materials but that is something that I hadn't really thought about when reading about other rescues! Thanks for bringing up that point. It also made me think about the good samaritan laws and how they differ...

    Ear infections

I'm not a doctor, but I do have a minor in audiology and spend a great deal of time testing hearing and looking at the inner ear. The past few months I've had a serious head cold and burst my eardrums just by coughing 3 times and I know I can't get in the water. Past of the problems that can...

    Narcosis

I wasn't to start off by thanking everyone who responded to my thread about whether or not I experienced Narcosis on my first deep dive. I learned a lot and feel better able to judge my own sensations. Many people mentioned Dark Narc and thought I've yet to experience this I was wondering...

    68 Dead Giant Pacific Chitons

Wow, that's terribly sad. I've personally never seen one of those. I can't help but think for so many to wash ashore it was disease or poisoning.

    Dive flags?

I know a few people who have done the beer bottle thing, definitely gets the boaters attention! That always worries me about shore dives, the only thing I can think of is make sure you have plenty of air when you're ready to surface in case of boating idiots.

    Trying to figure something out

Thank you all! That really helped me understand what was going on, I thought I should have been narc'd but I just didn't notice any difference. Thanks again and Happy Diving!

Looking for a dive while I'm in town

I'm originally from Everett and have always seen the signs and pictures of the Underwater park in Edmonds and was hoping to do a one or two tank dive there with someone who has done it a few times.. I'm AOW certified among other certs. I'm used to the very forgiving temps of the waters...

    Trying to figure something out

I recently did an Adventure dive as part of my AOW and we reached depth at 96 feet off of Molokini, and I'm trying to figure out if I got narc'd at all...I don't think so but I want to be sure. I have never been narc'd (that I know of) in the past, though that was by far my deepest dive to...
