    Trip Alone

I shopped around and my LDS had a better deal plus the added benefit that the Instructor from the LDS can service my Dive Rite if needed. We have a meeting before leaving to Cozumel (Scuba Club Coz. April 23-30 2011). The bad is that every buddy is pair up aready, the good is that I have my own...

    Bonaire - Bad Back?

I'm planning a trip to Bonaire next year, I have everything ready well almost. I have a bad back and cannot carry or haul gear very far (20 lb and very short dist.). I read Bonaire is different and divers just walk to the beach to start diving. Shall I tell my buddy to better move it to...

    Oceanic Milwaukee Sucks

I followed the advice and called Oceanic today. Very fast response, Oceanic will no longer use the booklets system, I'm sure because similar problems like the one I'm having. They asked me to mail them the receipts that I still have, along with the photocopy of the 'Oceanic booklet' they...

    Oceanic Milwaukee Sucks

My LDS (Local Dive Shop) in Milwaukee ripped me off. I dropped off my Oceanic GT3 regulator with the 'Service Booklet' and original receipts, (the store owner demands the receipts also). When I came back to pick up the regulator the owner of the store told me that he did not have the Booklet...

100cf steel tank or 19cf pony?

I have an extra regulator Oceanic CDX5 GT3 that I want to use it as an extra source of air but I need to buy a 19cf pony bottle. On the other hand I can sell the reg and buy a steel 100cf tank not as redundant but more practical and in the long run cheaper since the Oceanic reg need to be...

    Drysuit boots are too big.

My Atomic fins came with an insert on each fin, not sure what the inserts are for (maybe to protect the boot pockets when traveling) any way if you dive with the inserts on, that will make the boot pocket smaller. I found a piece of thick rubber about 1/8" and used the inserts as a template...

    Oceanic GT3 CDX5 regulator

This regulator comes with environmental seal. Next service is due in July. The second stage is light, both 1st and 2nd are compact compared to other brands, ideal for travel. For quality, looks and price this regulator is the best. Bought it on 2008 or end of 2007. The reg is listed at Ebay.

    Leaky Release Valve

I had the same problem just about a month ago. It might not be the valve (the are very reliable and a good warm water wash fixes most of the problems), in my case it was a leaky seam very close to where the valve is located. Test the drysuit (you have to super inflate the suit) with soapy...

    help with mask

Stay away from the 3-window masks, they have an aparent nice field of view but their volume is high and like the one I used it foged up fast, now I have a low volume one like 'Aeris Goby' and it takes a long time to fog up. If you are a newbie you do not need a purge, it's silly but I did that...

DIY Dry Glove Rings/Gloves for $18 (from back in December, 2005)

Thanks U/O I saw those pictures, I wanted to see as many pictures as I could, somehow the seals on my suit are on the small side, the PVC was too big and I didn't want to over stretch and ruin the seals. I bought some Atlas 660 and a few others to test (turn them upside down). I ended buying...

    Zeagle OctoZ question

One problem I found with my SS1 is that I like to have my regulator/octo/SPG set up with me on the 'carry on' just in case the luggage gets lost (it does happend), if you have enough space to put your mask, computer, BC and regulator/octo/SPG in the carry-on you are good. In my case I have a...

DIY Dry Glove Rings/Gloves for $18 (from back in December, 2005)

I found the post "DIY Dry Glove Rings/Gloves" form back in Dec, 2005. I want to give this a shot (making my own dry gloves & rings), but all the pictures (Attachments and Attached Thumbnails) are not there anymore. "One picture is worth a thousand words". Can I still see those...

UK SL4 eLED vs Intova 4.7w compact torch

Not at all, the Intova's batts. have plenty of dive time. I rather have two small lights than a big 8C flashlight, I did not noticed any difference in lumens between a 8C torch and a small one with 4AA batteries.

Lower back p. - ScubaCaddy (wheels for tank)

The only bad thing about Diving for me is to haul all the heavy gear (is bad if you have back problems). Have anyone try this ScubaCaddy? Strap Wheels on your Scuba Gear to Easily Roll it to the Dive Site Or made one similar that is cheaper?

UK SL4 eLED vs Intova 4.7w compact torch

I have both lights and love them both, it's hard to decide which one to use a primary light, I had a big 8C batteries but sold it (too big and heavy).

    Snorkel Keeper (best for me)

I forgot about the bad reputation snorkels have, the one I use save me from very choppy waters on my OW in Utila it was just my 4th dive and the experience stuck with me. For Lake Michigan I just stopped using it but out sea in OW I don't think I'm OK with out a yellow snorkel and a good...

    Snorkel Keeper (best for me)

I don't know how old is this new type of snorkel keeper but I think it is the best I seen since I started diving (2007), I bought this one at my LDS for $3 but you can get some similar at ebay. It's easy to install, just squeeze the flexible part of the snorkel and slide it up. I'm assuming...
