Dive Resort Deal - 19% Off the Occidental Cozumel

You forgot to add that Occidental now charges a daily cash pier fee from any dive op that picks you up there to go diving. Total BS and would recommend real divers stay away. John

    Free Nitrox or low cost

Think it comes down to personal choice/feelings. Like OP, when I first got my nitrox card I of course had to use it the first dive vacation. Never got free tanks, always paid $8 to $12 each. In all honestly, using EAN 32 or 36 I never felt any different then using air. But, my computer loved it...

    Latest conditons and sightings?

Awesome conditions. One thing I did notice with first dive today is a lot of jellyfish floating around towards surface. Most of them the small ones but did see a few man-o-wars. Those were awesome to watch from a distance but had 8 to 9 feet long tentacles which would suck if you got hit.

    Occidental Pier Fee

Hi, just to add another update for today. Arrived late last night to occidental and was picked up this morning for first dive. When I got to the pair a round 8:20 ProDive had two of their guys hitting every boat coming up to pick up customers for $. Again, they refused to let the customers...

    Occidental Pier Fee

Personally, I don't agree the definition of a "professional outfit" is one that harasses hotel customers to have their OP give them a couple $'s or threaten to forbid them to pick me up. Petty BS would be my description of that outfit. And yes, I'll cross out staying at Occidental again for...

    Occidental Pier Fee

Not good. I'm going there tomorrow and didn't know Occidental was also pulling that BS. Was planning to dive with Christi and she never mentioned this. I little too late for me to change my plans and hope I can hold my temper if someone tries to nickle and dime me to death. This will fall on...

    Reason to wear wetsuit

I'm spoiled the rest of my diving life after first trip to Cozumel. Started out in 7 mil suit on the California west coast. Progressed to 3 mil in Hawaii. Now, if I can't dive with just my swim trunks and rash guard I won't dive. Sad but true :)

    Tropical Disturbance Moving Toward Coz

I'm kind of dazed that this thread started 7 days ago about a tropical depression coming close to Cozumel and then within a few days passing by Cozumel it turned out to be a devastating hurricane slamming the US Gulf coast. It grew so fast in such a small period. Incredible..

    November Roll Call?

Cool, must be finally getting close if the Nov Roll Call has started :) John, Nov. 24-29 staying at Occidental Cozumel diving with ???? (Pay Pal doesn't like my CC for some reason so unable to book with anyone online). Likely will just show up and pay cash with whomever has room on boat?

Trip report - August 2018 with lots of photos

(Saying this in a Bruce Willis voice)............"Damn Nice Shots Boy!" Thanks for sharing these and I personally appreciate you labeling names and comments for each one. This old man actually learned a couple new things this morning. Cheers, John

    Diving CZM in early February

Dove many years in a row in Feb for my B-Day and never needed a wet suit. Yes, it is subjective but, this is exactly why I love to dive in Cozumel. Just returned a few days ago and I swore I'm never bringing my 3mm again for "just in case" :) Cheers, John

    Blue Angel Resort review

I have also returned from a recent stay at BA. This was my 5th stay there and there was a couple of changes that I noticed. Very frustrated that the room wifi continued to sporadically go out on a nightly basis. There are 3 routers onsite: the lobby, the restaurant, and the rooms. Only the room...

    Blue Angel Resort review

No, they don't fill themselves. This is why you need to give them a few days heads up if you want Nitrox. I swear everyone, if you saw this lady cracking all these valves and moving tanks all around every morning you would also say WTF? Reminds me of that animated movie of that squirrel looking...

    Blue Angel Resort review

Oh, that couple again.. Was there this past Feb and know exactly who your talking about. I would go down there in the morning to analyze my Nitrox and there they were cracking open every other tank measuring the pressure. And, I think it has nothing to do about any stress level, just being...

    Blue Angel Resort review

Thanks for your review ReefHound and I appreciate anyone who can explain both pros and cons as they see them. Stayed at 4 different places and dive ops before trying BA. For me, BA is exactly what I enjoy when diving in Cozumel and have been a repeat customer ever since. Saying that, I do use...

staying in iberostar : using onsite op vs other boutique op ?

Damn, you caught me off guard with that one and made me spit diet pepsi all over my monitor from laughing spontaneously:oops: (lol). Honestly, always enjoy talking to them as they explain what and why they have specific gear set up. Don't have proof but would think they all take safety very...

TS Harvey/Hurricane Harvey - Flight from Dallas

Just was raising a flag about coastal area airports (for other people besides OP).

TS Harvey/Hurricane Harvey - Flight from Dallas

I know OP was specifically asking about flying out of DAL but just noticed all airlines have travel advisory's for flights in/out of IAH and other golf coast cities (imminent cancellations). This will effect UA flyers much more than AA but, still going to mess with a lot of flight schedules from...
