    OW class problems and questions

Due to time constraints with rented pools, sometimes the focus is really on the skills first and if there is time later, swimming around for fun and getting comfortable. It doesn't sound ideal, but it is reality in some circumstances.

? on the PADI OW class

It's a simple formula.... Read the Chapter, Complete the Knowledge Review, Watch the Video - then, you will be ready for the quizzes and tests as well as your Confined Water sessions. If you cut out any part of this - you are short-cutting yourself alone.

    DPV Under $1000 - recommendations

I wound up purchasing the SeaDoo Explorer, a 2009 model. Took it to 40 feet and the battery compartment leaked. Called the distributor - he shipped me a new one asap. Will put it in the water next weekend, keeping my fingers crossed that this one doesn't leak as well. It is built pretty...

Advanced OWD or Peak Performancy Bouyancy?

PPB is an often overlooked and undervalued specialty. Buoyancy skills are something that you will use on EVERY dive. Go for the PPB opportunity then the AOW later - especially if you intend on diving beyond 60 feet.

What Activities should be allowed/restricted on Wrecks?

I realize that no posts have been made to this thread for some time, however, I recently came back from a trip to Brockville where I was unbelievably disappointed in the condition of the Robert Gaskin. This is one of my favorite wrecks. Just a year ago, it was fine, now it is a mess. This...

Just bought a new camera :) Strobe?

I'm a huge fan of strobes. More light means better pictures @ depth. If you are in 25-30 feet with incredible viz - forget it. However, if you are @ depths beyond that - you will want a strobe to bring out the colors lost @ depth. I find that even white balancing does not always do the trick.

    Morehead City or Hatteras?

Go to Morehead City and Dive with Olympus Diving. They have the Best Dive Operation in the Country. They dive the best wrecks in North Carolina. I dive with them often and have never heard anyone who has ever come away disappointed.

    Why a snorkel?

Snorkles are a personal preference after you've completed OW training. They are more of a "nice to have" than a required piece of equipment. Most advanced divers do not use them as they tend to get in the way more than add value.

Requirements for becoming a Dive Master then Course Director

It's cool that you're hyped up and looking towards a future in diving. I became an instructor a little more than a year ago. I've been diving about 5 years now. Obviously start with OW, then continue your dive experience. I would recommend focusing on AOW, Rescue and some specialties. These...
