I would guess you are over weighted. More expansion and compression of gas in BC with slight depth change means more gas pulled from tank computer reads higher SAC
If you can see water in your pressure gauge it did not come thru the first stage. The high pressure air is contained in a sealed tube if water got in bubbles would be coming out. You probably cracked the case if plastic or the seal to the glass if brass.
Be sure to attend Patty's free buoyancy presentation, and have the Divemaster help you with a weight check on your orientation dive. Unless your wetsuit is a BIG size 22lb. seems like a lot.

Part of the reason is they reduce for light transmission so it is like wearing sunglasses under water. They are OK on a tropical reef with bright sun but not as good in lower vis, or cloudy conditions.

If you can get air fills for $5 you are paying 1990's prices, and that was "give away then" Nitrox cost much more to produce plus raises the shop's liability insurance and sometimes government inspections. Many areas that do not have a high local demand do not sell Nitrox.

The guy at your local shop is not wrong, but it dose not usually make sense to do this.
1) Need BC or back plate for doubles
2) Extra weight to carry
3) could turn on uncovered post and lose breathing gas
4) would cause others to laugh (maybe this should be #1)
