Thanks for the replies and videos.
Hopefully they will regulate the amount and not let even more boats operate here.
Nautilus Belle Amie seems to be the biggest boat with 33 berths or so. From the many good reviews on Scubaboard I am sure the boat and crew is great, and it seems many people...
is Socorro starting to get crowded by divers?
I have started researching our next liveaboard trip and Socorro is one of the options.
A couple of things have surprised me. In just a couple of years the amount of boats seem to have more than doubled. Now up to 11 go to the islands at the same...
We are looking into doing a one week diving liveaboard, followed by a week on a land based liveaboard.
Considering the sea is much rougher in peak diving months like August and September, does this impact snorkeling etc on the land cruises much?
Or the iguana dive which is listed on most of...
When arriving in Cancun three weeks ago I withdrew some pesos to pay for transportation to PDC and Cozumel. It's placed right after customs before you leave the building.
First attempt didn't succeed. Which I thought was weird since there was no error messages or anything. But there wasn't...
On vacation I always try to pay with my credit card in whatever currency they first gave me the price in. This way I get the exchange rate from your bank which is a lot better then ATMs etc.
In Mexico they seem to have made a law to make shops be able to rip their customers off. If the price...
Right after the security control you walk past tax free shops etc which are begging you to buy big glass bottles of whatever which takes one second to convert into a big knife.
That's why the first day we will only travel to Uxmal... :) Then the next day visit Uxmal ruins. We are not planning to get there before (late) in the evening.
Same with Chichen Itza. Travel there from Uxmal in the evening and use the morning after to visit the ruins. We want to start at both...
We are first spending a week in Cozumel then two nights visiting the ruins before spending another week in Playa del Carmen.
When driving from PDC to Uxmal which road is the best? When I write the two places in Google map it propose a route through Tulum and then further southward. Most of...
Thanks for the replies.
First day we will travel to Uxmal from PDC. But not before we do the morning dives in Cozumel and take the ferry to PDC.
The second day we will spend most the time in Uxmal before travelling to Chichen Itza in the evening.
Last day we start in Chichen Itza and then...
Of Uxmal and Chichen Itza, which place would you recommend to spend the most time when planning to visit both of them?
What is there to do close by?
We are planning to arrive at one of them at night. And spend the entire next day there before driving to the other one. Stay one more night and...
Roughly how much more expensive is it than US?
The prices here are for most things twice or more than what they are in the states.
But there are taxes for importing + high shipping costs etc.
An example:
Scubapro 5mm Everflex ladies costs 430$.
How much would this cost in Cozumel or...
Are there many dive shops which sell equipment in Cozumel?
How good is the selection and what are the prices like?
For instance for a 3 or 5 mm wet suit.
Although a small country for instance Norway went way beyond just a warning. On 30th of January all the travel agencies cancelled all flights until 25th of February. One week later they extended this date until the end of April. The first cancellation affected 3000 people, not sure how many more...
I would recommend prioritizing dive sites before small boats though. Small center may result in local sites. Which aren't very good, the best sites are at Ras Mohammed and Tiran. Most centres also got restrictions for Ras Mohammed so not as many new divers since many of them stay local.
I...
Nothing was released except that the police found no errors in any of the equipment or the fill station. Too bad since something might have been learned from the interviews they had with the buddy who survived. I heard mention of an article in a Polish paper with more information, but haven't...
No. The tanks were checked, along with all the other equipment, but this is standard procedure in fatal accidents here... The results showed nothing out of the ordinary.
No difference in this case, where do you think they are swimming with them...? And I am guessing they have no shows either...
It is under the what to see and do in Cozumel. "An experience of a lifetime".
Do you think this is the case for 999/1000 or 1/1000...? And besides, saving it doesn't...
Thought the first site was their resort and the second the dive centre? Not giving the price is another way to make me go elsewhere. SCC doesn't give all prices either.
The second site mentions it. But they hide it 50 or so lines below the prices.
OP forgot two cons that made me take both of them off my list of potential hotels/dive operators.
#SCC Promotes dolphin captivity on their home page.
#BA tries to trick their customers by, contrary to all the other operators, giving prices without taxes. And hide that they do this.
