Scuba is just the next one in the expanding list
There's a pretty good thread going on talking about how to with with an OOA situation. Can you rely on your buddy, should you carry a pony, etc. I've got a question about the root cause of the problem.
Is there anything that can cause OOA other than sucking it down too fast and/or not...
But I don't really see that viewpoint being attacked. I do see the certification agencies being attacked though with money hungry and worthless training type insinuations.
I can totally understand the viewpoint that it's possible for people to learn on their own. I would even concede that...
This is baloney. :shakehead:
What would you have a beginning diver do? You think it would be OK for them to get a book from the library, buy some gear, and get in the water? How many killing themselves is acceptable to keep the consumerist engine from running?
The certification process...
Actually I believe the ISO specification only calls for minute indication on the dial. The bezel needs only be marked in five minute increments. Some watches do have minute indication on the bezel (Omega Seamaster, Marathon SAR) although you're correct, the Submariner doesn't. I couldn't name...
You might have some difficulty finding an appropriately rated watch that doesn't have a rotating bezel. Having a rotating bezel is a pretty popular style even if the watch isn't necessarily appropriate for diving.
In my mind, not having to change the time on the watch is precisely the reason...
There's not really any significance to it. I think it's mostly done as a 'cool' or 'different' factor. There's no technical difference that I know of. Many times they have multiple ratings marked on them somewhere. Sometimes markings on the dial and the back of the case are different (though...
For masks, fins, and snorkels are there any significant differences in what is used for SCUBA compared to what is used for snorkeling?
I plan on buying this basic gear for upcoming SCUBA classes. I also may have opportunity in a few weeks to use it for some snorkeling. Just wanting to make...
When reading this thread this is what came to mind for me as well. I also heard about them through cycling. Never occurred to me to wear for diving. Good idea though.
Not that it would necessarily help in a diving accident, but I have the !ICE prefix in my cell phone contact list. (Hint...
Hey everyone. I'm not much of a SCUBA diver (yet) but I've been a watch enthusiast for a while. I've got a few comments.
One. Even in the watch community we can't figure exactly why you shouldn't dive with a watch rated for say 100m. There are tons of things that affect water resistance...
