    New Okinawa SCUBA networking group

SCUBA Group - Now Serving Okinawa I started this to try and get some people networked with each other who might like to go diving together or find new places to dive. I'm hoping to gain off the fan base of this site, as well as the Okinawa Hai! site, which is where this group is hosted. Thanks!

    Where to mount knife?

That's funny, that's almost verbatim what our instructor "taught" us in class. :D

    Where to mount knife?

Where does everyone mount their primary knife? BCD? Thigh? Forearm? Bicep? Just trying to get some ideas of what everyone else does... Calf seems to make sense, but I like the thought of the bicep too, as both make sense (and don't) for different reasons. Thanks as always everyone! PS - Side...

    Okinawa - Bubbles Wetsuits?

No website that I know of, but their ads say that they speak English! Most of the Japanese here do speak at least a little English, kind of makes all the Americans look bad.

    Okinawa - Bubbles Wetsuits?

Actually, Bare is the only company I've found that I fit the template for perfectly, a MLS, but I haven't been able to find any good deals yet.... Might have to go check out the Spiderman wetsuit though!

    Okinawa - Bubbles Wetsuits?

Just heard about them today, anyone have any experience?

    Back trim pocket weight question...

So before I go out with my new BC (SP Knighthawk) I was wondering if there are any "standard" practices for using the back weight pockets. I know a good starting point for total weight is around 10% of your body weight, but is there anything out there saying what percentage should go in the trim...

    How tight for LP hose?

That disclaimer was WAYYY too late... So where do I send the bill for the new first stage? :D Seriously though, I would hope no one would follow that advice, lol.

    How tight for LP hose?

Thanks, that sounds perfect, saved me from buying a torque wrench!

    Mares M2 or Gekko or....?

For now I'm going to try looking for a nice basic computer like the Mares M2 or Sunnto Gekko... Any recommendations on either one of those, or maybe something else? Thanks all!

    How tight for LP hose?

That helps too, but I was actually looking for how tight it should be connected to the first stage.

    Beginners accessory kit?

So after bothering you all for days and days, I've finally decided and/or purchased all the main gear, fins, mask, snorkel, bc, reg, gauges, computer... What is the rest of the recommended gear? Light, knife, o-ring kit, etc? Just trying to get everything together as best as I can. Thanks once...

    How tight for LP hose?

So I just got my BC and reg, and started to hook up my LP inflator hose to the first stage... Only I don't know how tight it should be... Scanned through the manuals for both the reg and BC, to no avail... What's the verdict, class? Thanks!

    Is this entirely overkill?

I'm not sold on the AIR2 either, it's by no means a requirement... Plus without it, I can take 70 bucks off the BC and put it towards an octo, so no worries there. Thanks for all the good advice!

    Is this entirely overkill?

Thanks, that's pretty much exactly what I was looking for.... As far as the BP/W I think I'd like to get into teaching eventually, and I know the places here want you to have standard gear, and what they sell, so.....

    Is this entirely overkill?

ScubaPro... Probably either the Knighthawk or the Glide Pro, I really liked the way each of those fit.

    Is this entirely overkill?

Of the BCs I have been able to try on, yes, and I do like the way the reg feels, and my instructor recommended it as well. Unfortunately I'm really limited as to what I can try out from the dive shops on the island, not a whole lot of selection for rentals.

    Is this entirely overkill?

So I went to my LDS, and they have a deal... Buy a SP Galileo Sol ($1200) and a Air2 BC ($450) get a free Mk25/S600 ($405) reg... Brings you to a grand total of $1650... Is that computer entirely overkill, especially for a new diver? I don't mind spending the money if it's something great...

    ScubaPro KnightHawk lift question...

Thanks, that actually helped a lot... As I said in one of my other posts, which I believe you also posted in and gave me some great info, I think the chances of me wanting to teach would come before any kind of serious, hard tech diving, so just for the fact of not wanting to spend extra money...
