Fishers Island Sound wreck still maritime mystery.

I thought I saw quoted somewhere that over 200 wrecks where involved with the Watch Hill Reefs. I can see where a positive ID would be essential. You never know what parts of a wreck get uncovered year after year or day by day; and one of these days, just the right part gets uncovered from a...

Fishers Island Sound wreck still maritime mystery.

Hey Thanks for sharing those. Its really interesting when a new wreck is discovered in our waters. Stuff like this is what makes diving in New England all the more special IMO. Excellent work!!!

I bought an older Zeagle Ranger on Ebay. How'd I do?

While you still have time to send it back, run down to the LDS you plan on having the gear serviced at and see if they can give you an opinion. That may be better than waiting for a certain amount of positives and negatives here on the internet to guide you. I may sound negative at your...

I bought an older Zeagle Ranger on Ebay. How'd I do?

Stop by your LDS as they are experienced with dive gear. We don't know the condition of gear sitting in an Ebay seller's garage for years. Parts may or may not be available to service the old equipment. This makes it hard to answer your question. I sure hope you get that old equipment serviced...

Animal Planet Friday Night 10-14-2011 - Diver Lost at Sea

"I carry on all dives a light, mirror, radio, smb, dye pack, 6' of tether rope, light stick, whistle, air alert. 25yrs of diving, 500+ dives in both oceans, and never used any of it and hopefully never will, but it's there if I need it. " Good list there Kraz; we can all learn form it. If I do...

Diving Harkness Park or Anchor Beach (CT) Advice

Well, I took my bike out there today to check the park out. The place looks quite interesting and rocky like Weekapaug Point in RI. Loads of shell debris on the shore and some nice size lobster claws. I looked at the rules: SCUBA is only allowed in parks designated for SCUBA. SCUBA in state...

Animal Planet Friday Night 10-14-2011 - Diver Lost at Sea

Until I sprout gills, I'll buy that and I'll have a touch of fear on every dive.

Diving Harkness Park or Anchor Beach (CT) Advice

Harkness does look interesting. Let me do some research and asking about those rips. You notice there is a 60ft drop off 1/2 mile out I wouldn't go more than 1/4 mile out. But rocky terrain like this at an angle deflecting water movement can create some interesting water effects.

Animal Planet Friday Night 10-14-2011 - Diver Lost at Sea

Well that was some escapade. I guess Hollywood portrays divers as shooting down the anchor line real fast face first going hand over hand or did they really go down like that. No wonder his buddy had equalizing issues and had to scrub his dive. In that case though, had he dove with his...

Diving Harkness Park or Anchor Beach (CT) Advice

Thats a pretty boring dive Gill. You can't dive from ramps anymore in CT anyway and sometime security is there as you have the powerplant across the cove and they are not crazy about having divers in the water in that area. You can walk down the path and go from the Pleasure Beach at this...

Diving Harkness Park or Anchor Beach (CT) Advice

I did an easy hour at Stonington Point this week with just a 7mm fullsuit. The water is not too cold and I've yet to start layering. Time to do a little google earthing.

Animal Planet Friday Night 10-14-2011 - Diver Lost at Sea

Looks like Animals Planet Series - "I shouldn't Be Alive" will be showing a new Episode Friday Night that portrays a diver separated from the dive boat and a drift at sea. I am sure there will be a lesson or two in there someplace in that survival story. Just thought I'd let people know...

Diving Harkness Park or Anchor Beach (CT) Advice

I understand Harkness has some very interesting rocky terrain and some depth and we attempted to dive there. We were stopped by the park rangers or told we can not enter the water due to rip currents at the time. I'd probably be willing to buddy up with you for a dive there as its only a...

Double that kudos on the Diver's Cove crew. They are a great bunch of divers to dive and get involved in scuba with.

    Underwater Beach Cleanup in CT

Iv'e been working for the DEEP every weekend and holiday this summer and I wasn't going to participate in the beach cleanup as I want to go diving. This is a nice opportunity to dive and cleanup now. What time are people gathering to buddy up. Chris

What tanks are you diving on?

I use a 72 cf Faber steel and love the fact its -11lb full and compact for the shore diving walk to the water. A lot of people use steel ranks and more air the better as long as you can carry it well.

The question is: who put up the signs. I'm going to have to change my dive book now.

Danger. Lumba Lumba in Palau Weh.

Thanks for replying with clear details. It would have been better if the OP would have provided details instead of posting non detailed warnings in multiple threads of the board. There is a tendency to not believe people that post like that and more harm could have then been done as people...
