I second the recommendation for Cobalt Coast/Dive Tech. I did a week with them in 2007 when I only had about 30 dives and they treated me great. Out of the 19 dives I did that week, only 3 were to greater than 80 feet and they were late in the week. Most dives were in the 50-75 foot range so...
Great trip report, makes me sorry we didn't make it to Coz this winter. Wife and I have stayed at Blue Angel twice, Jan 2010 and March 2011. Weather was a problem in 2010 for the 1st half of the week (el Norte) but March 2011 was fantastic. In 2010 we were on the 2nd floor and the noise...

Most of the boats leave port at 7am or earlier so staying closer to the marina is about the only way you'll want to try diving off NJ. Lots of great wrecks and several charters...

We did COZ in March of this year. Water temp was 80F on each and every dive from top to bottom down to 100 feet.
There is a bus service that runs to all the hotels/resorts and that might your best bet for transport to FA. We stay at Blue Angel which is not so far north of FA.
Can't...
Yes! DNY is a great bunch of divers. Likely set up on the left side at the bottom of the hill on the peninsula side of DS. Lots of fun and great dives to be had by all.
I second or third the suggestion for Blue Angel. We've stayed there the last 2 years and love the place, food and of course the DIVING. As for visiting ruins, several good spots on Coz. Rent a car or take a taxi. Stay away from scooters (see numerous reasons why here and on TripAdvisor). Plan...
I use a Prescription Scuba Diving Masks - Snorkeling Masks - SeaVisionUSA mask that has ground in "gauge readers". Works fine for my +2.0 diopter 58 year old peepers.
My thought exactly. As long as everyone stayed away from him he totally ignored us. Even after he swim away, he didn't go far and kept scrounging around the bottom looking for food.
Eagle Ray - March 2011 - Great trip and saw this guy having lunch on Dalila Reef:

My wife had the squeeze during our trip to Coz last month. To be safe, I called DAN and they said no problem diving after the incident but to be aware that it will look worse before it looks better.
She didn't have "raccoon face" but those red eyes made everyone think twice about crossing my...

You might want to check out: BeachsideGardens.US Florida Vacation Rentals Located in Deerfield Beach FL. it's a 1/2 block from the beach and numerous restaurants and bars. It's a small Condo complex with off street parking and a pool. It's not a 5 Star resort but the price is right...
We were in Coz 2 weeks ago and didn't find Lions on any menu either. But plenty of the pesky devils on the reefs :( Our DMs were actively killing them and feeding them to the waiting mouths of Snappers and the like.
According to the Key Standards section of the 2010 PADI Instructor's manual, prerequisite for Rescue is "Adventure Diver with Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive."
