    dry vs wet

Rescue Dives have increased task loading and sometimes require extended downtimes to conduct search and rescue/recovery. Due to those characteristics I would say that there is quite a bit of increased risk from the cold water. I dive my drysuit year round.....unless its uncomfortably hot (air...

    Mysterious tank

I was wondering a few things about a tank I just obtained. It is an LP Steel 72, Current hydro and VI. The valve has a date of 3-59 on it. It was produced by US Divers. It is a K valve however the Open/Close is at the top of the stem. First hydro date 3-58+. The bottle itself was produced by US...

Worried about Japan's radiation in Pacific?

Unless you're in or very near the reactor itself the radiation is dispersed to the point that you'll receive more radiation just from suntanning. I think news outlets are in the business of getting ratings and more people watch the channel that sensationalizes the event the most. If there was a...

Haigh Quarry Accident on Oct 2, 2010

I deal with life and death on a daily basis and I'm not ashamed to say that seeing his picture did me in pretty bad too Darcy. It was definitely one of the tougher situations I've encountered. Undeniably, it's going to hit close to home with us divers. It just makes us human. As always you've...

Haigh Quarry Accident on Oct 2, 2010

I was one of the divers that got him out of his gear and pulled him out onto the dock and did CPR. Daily Journal today says he didnt make it. Which was the gut feeling I had while it was going down. Very difficult way for us to start our day.

new to diving and want to know if i should get nitrox cert

I'd say no. Don't rush, become very comfortable with your new skill set before taking on new ones. Enjoy just being a diver for a while, then when you feel ready and things make more sense to you...go for it. It's not about how smart you are, it's about how much you've improved and if you're...

Hey Engineer, welcome to SB. Now that you've gotten your 1st 5 post out of the way, just a little advice. I started with "Hello" , you started with "Are you crazy?" Notice the difference. Secondly, I wouldn't say that Photographers are laxed on their air supply or wreckless. I definately would...
