WHAT AN ABSURD STATEMENT.
First - In all of the posts on this thread Wayne has presented nothing but advice based on his personal experiences concerning which drysuits are best for a cold water environment. This is NOT the Santi or Whites thread so shouldn't everyone be able to express their...
Wayne,
Glad to hear you guys are up and running again! If you guys are desperate for gas, many of the stations south of you are finally starting up again.
Had some great dives off the Canned Air last weekend. Brought my camera with me so I put together this little video tour. Enjoy!

I have the sdi solo cert and have used it many times. It does require you to carry more gear and more importantly it requires you to be far more practiced with this equipment than any AOW class would ever require you to be. My class was taught by a highly experienced instructor that would not...
I missed out on the charter with Giantstride Scuba! I'm looking for any other charters goin out to the u853 during July. The only weekend I cant do is the 7/8. Please help!
I tried to sign up for the trip to the u853 with giant stride but its already full... do you know of any other charters going the that site this July? (Cant do 7/8)
The Stolt is pretty fun. Not everyday you get to see an oil tanker torn in half. Its in 130 feet but has excellent relief all the way up to 60 feet. Lots of possibility for penetration if you are qualified. It sits on an angle which can make the dive very surreal.

Sadly, I have to admit I was also one of the divers rather put off by extremist DIR people. Even now when my current rig is mostly DIR, I still dislike ANYBODY who is not willing to accept that there is no "one true way" as far as gear and setup is concerned. In my own posts I try to help...
Unfortunately, not many computers have the nice free dive mode that some of the Mares models have. Fortunately, most do have a bottom timer mode that works almost as well.
I knew someone who once said the same thing frequently. On one dive after several said statements, the dark angel of karma stuck. Needless to say it wasn't fun helping his buddy put his tank back on in 95fsw.
Dive SAFE and have fun.
As far as the reg issue is concerned, I also would have approached you. Instead of jamming your reg back in I would have made my spare readily available to you if I had any doubt you were in distress. Did you have your reg in hand as you were clearing your throat? A dropped reg would...
Agreed on the no brainer comments. I also agree that if you find yourself most limited by NDL nitrox will be a big help. However, I don't feel that diving nitrox leaves you less tired than diving air. I know a lot of other divers who do feel that way though. Even so, I make a lot of dives to...
I generally try not to use snorkels whenever possible. I am a PADI divemaster so I do have a "pocket" snorkel that is out of the way when I am divemastering. The kind of diving I do most frequently (boat, quarry, and tech) does not require a snorkel. If you do become lost on the surface...
Surprised this hasn't been asked. At least not from what ive read so far. What do you consider "shady"? I'm kinda playing devils advocate here but there are some practices that are common in the sales world that the layperson would probably consider shady. For example, every year we see...

We are a club dedicated to doing local diving. I don't know if we have any shore dives planned yet but we're probably going to try the train wreck at some point this season. Probably more than that. Hope to see you around!
Fascinating! 130 meters? Thats 429fsw give or take. One hell of a deep dive if those figures are correct. Almost double what the u-who (u869) from shadow divers sits at.
I'm looking to do a trip to Key West this December. Are there any shops / charters that allow tech diving. I will want to be diving the Vandenberg so this is an important question. Also looking for potential buddies to dive with if anyone out there is interested.
