Has anyone been to Raja Ampat in late May into early June?

    Thanks Dan. Sounds encouraging.

Has anyone been to Raja Ampat in late May into early June?

I know that Dec. and thereabouts may be best, but Misool is basically booked, and the accommodations we prefer are only available in late May-early June (naturally, because it's the off season), So we're just wondering what the weather/diving is like during that time. Thanks.

Has anyone been to Raja Ampat in late May into early June?

No, we were there a year ago December, and it was glorious.

Has anyone been to Raja Ampat in late May into early June?

My husband and I were scheduled to go to Misool Eco Resort this April into early May. Of course we cannot go now and are trying to reschedule for 2021 (assuming the world doesn't end before then!! ) The only availability for our preferred accommodations are in late May into early June, which...

Where is all the fish in Fiji?

My husband and I went to Fiji about 3 years ago (Shortly after Cyclone Winston caused so much damage). We stayed a week on Vita Levu and dove in the Bligh Waters, then a week at tiny Sau Bay resort off Taveuni and dove the Rainbow Reef. I don't know how much damage Winston did to the reefs...

Fiji - Voli Voli or Wananavu?

You've probably made your attangements already, but here is my 2 cents. My husband and I stayed at Wananavu a few years ago. Don't know about Voli Voli. We wouldn't go back to Wananavu for several reasons. The room was fine and the hotel grounds very pretty. The food ranked from half-way...

    Raja Ampat Lodge/Resort Recommendations Please

Thanks Reubencahn. You all should also know that when we were at Papua Explorers, and told a number of people who had been to Misool that we were going there the following week, to a person they said we had made the right choice and that that was the place to go.

    Raja Ampat Lodge/Resort Recommendations Please

The other thing I forgot to mention - While Misool Eco is a 3 1/2 to 4 hour boat ride from Sorong, they have a brand new yacht with indoor, air conditioned seating, as well as outdoor seats, if you prefer, with snacks for the trip. The boat to and from Sorong to Papua Explorers (about 2 hours)...

    Raja Ampat Lodge/Resort Recommendations Please

My husband and I spent 2 weeks in December in Raja Ampat - first at Papua Explorers and next at Misool Eco Resort. In both our opinions, Misool was the superior option. While P. Explorer was certainly fine, the dive sites were 25 - 35 minutes from the resort. At Misool, the dive sites were no...

Cozumel trip report 5/15-23/17 Scuba Du

Great photos, Erwin. What camera do you use? My husband and I are going to Cozumel in December, staying at the Presidente as well. We went there 8 or 9 years ago when we were very new divers, so we're looking forward to this trip with a lot more dives under our belts. Your photos make my...

    1st Fiji trip - Questions

As garycrano says, Sau Bay has no shore diving. However, there were a number of people there when we were, including divers, who said the snorkeling off the shore was great. We never tried that because we dove every day. It's such a small place that you might have the dive master all to...

    1st Fiji trip - Questions

My husband and I went to Fiji last Sept./ Oct. We stayed at Wananavu and dove the Bligh waters. Since we're on the east coast of the US, we've dived mainly in the Caribbean and were very excited to go to Fiji. I have to tell you that both of us were disappointed with the diving in the Bligh...

    Turneffe Islands Dive Report

I agree with your assessment of the video, Yami. It wouldn't inspire me to go there either. We went to Turneffe Island Resort about 5 years ago or so and really enjoyed it. I remember seeing quite a bit more life - eagle rays on many dives, schools of squid and many more fish. Then again, we...

    Turneffe Islands Dive Report

We are thinking about booking Turneffe Flats for next March. How was the resort itself, including the food? We've been to Turneffe Island resort and liked it very much. Thanks.

Fiji trip report - Wananavu and Sau Bay

My husband and I returned from Fiji a few weeks ago - we spent a week at Wananavu Beach Resort on Vita Levu and then a week at Sau Bay, off Taveuni. We were there from Sept. 21 through Oct. 6. First, a little about us. We're from NJ, so the trip to Fiji was, as you can imaging, very lengthy...

Luxury hotel or condo in Roatan?

Hi Revid1. We're thinking about Xblanque for 2017. How was your experience? How many dives a day did you do? Many thanks.

Ear incident on Liveaboard and Trip Insurance

You are undoubtedly right, DandyDon. It never occurred to us to ask for a refund. I wonder if anyone has ever received one under similar circumstances (i.e. the boat refuses to let you dive, even though you are willing to take the risk and sign your life away). Somehow I doubt it. Would...

Ear incident on Liveaboard and Trip Insurance

While this story isn't as dramatic as most in this sub-forum, I thought it was worth posting. A couple of months ago, my husband and I were on the Cayman Aggressor for a week of diving. On the 4rth dive on Sunday, which was the first day of diving, my husband felt his ear "pop" while clearing...

Little Cayman Beach Resort trip report

My husband and I have been to both the Little Cayman Beach Resort and the Southern Cross Club - LCBR once and Southern Cross twice. They are both great options, and they are very different places. LCBR is bigger and more crowded (not problematically so). They have a lively bar scene at night...
