Arriving tomorrow (5Nov) and staying until the 11th. 1 diver and 1 who wants to try it out and 1 just along for the fun of it. Staying at Sabor, planning to get a bit of surfing in too.
Can't make the early lobster season but I do have vacay time at the beginning of regular season. I am wanting to do some lobster hunting, I am in Sarasota but I hear we just are not good for that sort of thing. I was thinking driving over to Ft. Lauderdale or wherever and trying my luck. So...
There are four of us cruising into Czm in early November and a couple of us want to get some diving in. It has been suggested we visit Scuba Club Czm for some shore diving. We have two divers (one new, one experienced) and two non-divers. So is it possible to rent some gear and tanks for us...
I am hoping someone here can hook me up with dive operator. There will be a few of us coming into Grand Cayman early November, of that group I am the only diver. The group has decided to do the stingray city thing in the morning and I am hoping to find a dive in the afternoon. I figure I will...
Coconuts and/or Sr. Iguanas on the east side and Punta Sur on the southern tip. It is an easy swim to snorkel the reef there.
My favorite dive sites are all in Palancar, garden, horseshoe and deep.
Other places to visit would be the Mayan site in the middle of the island (forgot the name) and...
I was a 19E also. Spent many hours/days/weeks riding around in one of those M60s. I am now a certified diver and these dive sites are actually pretty close to me. I am taking this as a sign. I will be diving these tanks soon.
I am using a OK Trident 13. it is a fishing kayak but doubles nicely for diving. The cargo area will hold an Al80, bc and reg set. Fins and mask fit nicely in the hull loaded through that big hatch between your legs. Dive flag goes in any one of the many available accessory sockets.
At least it...
A few factors, I do like the original aspect of diving which was simply use what you needed but no more. A very simplistic approach. I also like the idea of a very light, compact system that could still do the job. Since there are very few modern horse collars out there and those have advanced...
For various reasons I decided to convert a snorkel vest into a BC.
It worked. Simply take a snorkel vest and cut a couple of appropriate sized holes in strategic locations to hook up a power inflator and an overpressure valve. Use with a simple backplate and you have a back-to-basics type rig...
Dive Palancar is on site and last I knew Sand Dollar Sports is just a short walk (as in it borders the resort).
As for the Sabor, good question. I am a member there and there have been A LOT of changes in the last 2 years. Unfortunately I haven't been there for a year and a half so I can't tell...
Get your cert first then worry about getting that dive in. It is a good idea to ask for dive buddies here but you should also talk to your instructor. I am sure he/she will know more than a few divers prepared to take newly certified divers out.
Also check your local dive shops for clubs and...
