You could go buy yourself a $2 MR11 10 watt or 20 watt Halogen and hook that up to the battery to test it. It's a lot better then burning your HID for 3 x 4 hours.

Line handling is not hard. I would start on land, practicing reeling out 50 ft or so, maybe around a couple trees then bring it back in while keeping the line tight. then get in the pool and practice reeling out and back in while keeping the line tight the entire time. That and practice...

On one hand I'm thinking the same thing your thinking (Someone just doesn't need a lot of light.) But on the other I have this feeling that people want a lot more light but just can't shell out the money. I'm trying to find out really what the number is for minimum light. I'll shamefully...

Let's say that you are buying a brand new canister light. I am considering making a 14w 1000 Lumen HID light. This would be about the same size as a 10w Hid light head and the canister would be 2.5" instead of 2" for a 10w. If you had the choice would you automatically go for the 21w HID...
