    Ketchikan Bound!

Good day! I'll be stationed in Ketchikan for 3 years and I'm due to arrive in late July. I've never worn a dry suit so it looks like I'll be learning lots of new skills. I can't wait!

Snorkeling sites for my non-diving family

Hello, we'll be in Cozumel in a few weeks and I'm looking for any recommendations that you all may have regarding good snorkeling sites that I may be able to take my wife and kids to. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    To SeaLife Joe

Recently on a trip to Puerto Rico I had an incident with my mini reefmaster where the compartment which houses the camera's memory card and battery was somehow opened and salt water was introduced into the camera. I don't have any idea how this could have happened and I tried drying it out and...

    Scuba Podcasts

Yes, I enjoy Pod Diver Radio and I agree about Scuba Radio... it can be annoying at times with all the schtick. I haven't heard of Talking Scuba but I'll check it out. Another podcast I've been meaning to listen to is X-Raydio/BlogTalkRadio. I ran across it on the X-Ray online dive magazine...

Should SB be mandatory for new divers ?

No, I don't believe SB should be made mandatory. I love reading other's opinions on SB but would caution anyone that you shouldn't take posts on SB as gospel. Like others that have stated on this thread there is great advice to be found but there's also questionable and contradictory posts...

Visiting San Diego in July - Dive Recommendations?

I second the suggestion that you try the Point Loma kelp beds and the recommendation of the Lois Ann! I finished my OW cert at Point Loma and have been a very happy customer on board the Lois Ann...

What is your biggest Fear in diving?

I agree! I don't have any fear of animals but the one thing I don't want to look like is a diver that doesn't seem to know what he/she's doing! I've surfed in the past and have been exposed to all sorts of currents and they don't bother me but if the conditions aren't up to par to be able to...

    Have questions-leaving this Sat. 5/15!

Have fun in PR! I was there last month and dove with Taino Diverse. As far as I know they are the only ones that take divers to Desecheo. They were great and I would recommend them highly. During my stay the conditions weren't favorable to make it to Desecheo, I hope you have better luck! I...

I read both books and found them to be great reads but I never caught the discrepancy that SeaHorseDeb found... I wonder if the official Coast Guard report differs...

Ditch analog pressure gauge for Suunto D9?

I would keep both. I have a Suunto Vytec, air integrated via a transmitter, but use an analog 3 console SPG as my backup in case the Suunto craps out on me. If it ever does I can continue with my dive using the SPG as long as I can still adhere to my dive plan.

    Piranha's MFG

Question... I'm considering the purchase of Piranha's Mfg Torpedo fins and I was wondering if there's anyone out there that has them and can give me an honest review. Anyone else out there purchase any of their gear?

    Hot Deals at Piranha

Good day, Eric. I was looking at your products online and I had a question regarding your Torpedo fins... I see that each fin is roughly 3lbs each but in the water do they tend to be negatively, neutral, or positively bouyant? Any info you can give would be greatly apprectiated, thanks!

which dive operation on St Thomas???

I guess it may depend on where you're staying but if you're near the east side of the island I would recommend Red Hook Diving Center. I dove with them last year and had a great time.

    Diver Down

I liked the book. It does get technical but that aspect appeals to me. I read it just before a trip to Puerto Rico and it definitely reinforced the need to know that basics.
