Best bang for the buck wetsuits?

I have a couple of Hendersons, but the best bang for buck comes from the Triathlon XTERRA suit I own. Some ridges on the forearm are the only discernible difference and I have been diving in it. After Tri season they go on sale around 60% off.

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

There are airlines where non removable rechargeable lithium batteries are not allowed. EVA is one and I think I saw it on American as well. I don't fly with my Sola anymore.

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

I was on that boat two weeks ago. There was a comprehensive safety talk prior and a cluster of fire extinguishers close to the sleeping quarters. Only around 8 people total. This couldn't have happened. ETA: Additionally, we were docked nightly and being old I needed to pee in the night...

    Great Lakes Diving

I am interested in Isle Royale. Should I also be looking at Thunder Bay operators? I'm seeing it is in Canada. We went through that this year on the St Lawrence. Were in Canada, but dove a wreck in the USA. Got pulled over by the PoPo but we were on our way to Customs at the castle.

    Maui snorkeling conditions, early/mid November

There was a massive rain on Maui Saturday past. I went snorkeling in Honolua Bay Sunday past. The sheltered part was under advisory for bacteria laden runoff. The un-sheltered part, had heavy swells. But nice fish near the rocks. I would have liked having a helmet near the rocks.

    Honolulu to Big Island

I'll be coming in from Oahu Hawaiian Air to do this. Thinking to bring my own gear. Are there any restrictions on rechargable Lithium batteries or weight limitations domestic? Didn't see any on their website contract of carriage. $35 extra luggage charge domestic and $100 from the US

12 boys lost in flooded Thai cave

Seems the boys are in their uniforms. In some places their team uniform would be the best clothes they own. Contrast those clothes with what cavers wear. It's a filthy sport from the get go. Suggests an impulse trip. I don't think they will be swimming in the dark. Given the attention this...

12 boys lost in flooded Thai cave

I thought about this a little and believe I have been in that cave complex. The kids are smaller than the divers. Theoretically, they should slide right through. Esp with Pony bottles. They have lots of muscle on the scene as well. I'm guessing they set it up with people all along the passage...

I only dove once from the Jeanne II, but it was a pleasurable experience. Good Luck in all your future endeavors.

Four fatalities in Norway this summer

Just pulled up the first one to see what wreck it was. The Norweigian says 70 metres, the translation comes through as 70 feet. I'm inclined to go with the 70 metres. Probably a plane then, I believe most of the shipwrecks are shallow.

    Maldives Trip Report

Temps were low 80s F, about 28 C. There were a couple of dives where we hit colder thermoclines at depth. There was a shallow reef where it was 86F/30C. Viz varied widely, but was never below 10 Metres. The funny thing was, 27 dives and the viz was the best the very last one. About 60 Metres.

    Maldives Trip Report

Maldives Dive Report 05 Feb 2012 - 14 Feb 2012 I committed to this about a year ago, going with People from my dive shop. We were on the M/V Manthiri out of Male, a liveaboard. In addition to the Manthiri, there was a divetender a “dhoni” which was very convenient, giving the space that...

Top 10 wreck dives in the world?

+ 1 I think this is part of the allure for me. Even if it's not such a great wreck. But you connect to it. It's happened for me once or twice. Something sunk in front of a Beach Resort you can DPV out to, makes a great photo op but I simply can't connect to it. A WWII German Destroyer...

Top 10 wreck dives in the world?

wow I know this guy. I've been diving with him off his boat. He is a great diver and skipper. His CCR unit appears to be the oldest one I've ever seen. Though I don't know much about them. He was looking for the HMS EXETER for three years in the Java Sea. Somebody else found it...

Top 10 wreck dives in the world?

Can anyone tell me what a "Donald Duck" wreck is? I googled it, because it occurs repeatedly on a Norweigian Dive site and this thread came up. BTW, is the definition of "Top Ten" the ten best or the ten most dived? I would also throw in a mention for Tobermory and Great Lakes wooden wrecks...
