Hi diveUAE.
I'm coming a bit late to this thread, but I was in Anilao in Dec & PG in January and I enjoyed them both. You are thinking of going there in Feb. Looks like your plans are still fluid. My understanding is that the visibility and water temp/conditions are much improved March...
Thanks for the excellent trip report and for bringing up a diving location that's not well known. Amazing photos! You have a very good eye for composition.
Wow! I didn't know such a product existed. How long does it last, or does that depend on the humidity conditions? And are you happy with the accuracy (as far as you can tell) of the Govee digital hygrometer? My understanding is that hygrometers are not very reliable (compared to thermometers...
Neat trick. Based on my own experience plus what I've read, I don't think the rice trick is very useful as a cure once flooding has occurred, but it sounds like a good idea for a preventive. Thanks!
When it does fog, which is rare, it is after a good bit of use (I mainly video). Once I noticed that the fog actually disappeared towards the end of the dive (after having turned it off once fog appeared). I think the main time it fogged was after it had flooded (I was a bit lazy about...
Great pics on your flickr link, Luko. (But that's same as always!) 3-4 days before the full moon for more sharks, or more HHs or what? By the way, what's GPF & BRO?
A big thank you to all of you for the very useful information. Just one more question about the a/c situation. I find that without a/c, my camera housing fogs up sometimes. How do you manage this situation?
Thanks Darnold, for the tip about the Dive Alor resort being in the shade of the...
I've never been to Alor, and I understand it is outstanding for macro. But I've been to most of the macro specialty spots in Indo/Philippines a few times, and I think I'm all macro'd out for the next year or two! (Or so I say! Those things have a beguiling way of sucking you back in :))
I...
I was at Azure recently. It's good enough, but nothing exceptional. If you are keen on night dives, check with the owner about dinner times, and if the restaurant staff stick around late enough. For me, they were in a terrific rush to close down at 8 pm sharp.
Since you are macro muck...
Thanks CWK & Dan. Maldives can be pretty expensive so I wanted to check things before going ahead. (My trip to the Galapagos was a bit of a disappointment in April 2023), Anyway, it's a moot point now for me, for this year anyway.....
Hi cerich, could you elaborate please? "Far more frequent" in absolute numbers? Or as a proportion of passenger miles? Or as a proportion of voyages? Or.....
FWIW, I just want to chime in to say that Vicko is absolutely right in what he is pointing out. When you are comparing rates or proportions, if the denominator is faulty, the conclusion is not supported by the data.
Hi Pearlman, "changes you *expect* to see" would be putting it a bit strongly. I was just enquiring. For example, in the Galapagos, earlier in 2023, they were fewer of hammerheads and the suggestion was that the warmer waters of the El Niño was the cause.
