    Dive Instructor/Check-out Dives at Aquarena

Are the dive instructors doing checkout dives at Aquarena these days? If so, can anyone recommend an instructor or shop? Thanks, Gary

    Georgetown TX, San Gabriel River

Old School and I dove it a couple of years ago in the park just north of downtown next to the mexican restaurant. It's not very deep and vis is ok early in the year before the alge sets in. One of the local dive rescue teams trains there, but they like the muck. :) Not a bad dive if you just...

    Flower Gardens Info

The combination of nitrox, the dive/eat/sleep routine and lack of gear hauling/loading/unloading will leave you feeling like superman. You don't have to be a man of steel to do the routine and you can always opt out of the night dive and drink a cold beer. :)

Folding or Hanging a Wet Suit?

I just about finished making the shelves for my cabinet and it's the perfect size to store all my gear with the exception of the wet suits. I even made two "tank rack" shelves for storing my four tanks (LP95s and HP120). I just need to convert one of my tall metal cabinets to a "closet" to...

Folding or Hanging a Wet Suit?

I've been storing my wet suits on a portable hanging rack that sits in my shop. It's great for drying out my suit, BCD and other gear after I wash it out. I place a big fan on it for a couple of hours and I'm done. I just leave my gear hanging there and it's been good, but things tend to get...

Getting rid of BCD, Scubapro Twin Jets, DUI Rock Boots

Danger of using nitrox in non-SCUBA tanks?

When I got the nitrox fill, they bled it down and started from zero (they do partial pressure). This will be the first time for me to take a tank in that was last used for a nitrox and ask for an air fill (I used to have dedicated tanks for air and nitrox). It's the same shop that did the...

Danger of using nitrox in non-SCUBA tanks?

When I was a teenager, I mowed a lady's lawn and she provided the riding lawn mower. The tires were always flat and she filled them up with a hose and air chuck she had connected to her 500 gallon butane tank. Even as a teenager, I knew something wasn't right with that setup. Is it standard...

Danger of using nitrox in non-SCUBA tanks?

I have an HP120 tank that I use on occasion to fill my HP air paintball tank which is actually used for a t-shirt launcher. My HP120 tank is O2 cleaned and mostly I dive it with regular air but occasionally I get a nitrox 32% fill. I'm aware of why a cylinder has to be O2 cleaned and my LDS...

Diving for Science Classes At Aquarena Center, Spring Lake San Marcos

Had an interesting dive at Spring Lake today. We laid out the new boundary for the training area. Right now, its just a rope on poles, but will eventually be replaced with something a bit more permanent. Got some lift bag experience so that was cool. Taylor and Aaron are working to get that...

    Diving in Miami

Somehow I don't think Miami will be that flat the rest of the series. But I will say this. :shocked2: We are from Texas so we can handle the Heat!

Diving for Science Classes At Aquarena Center, Spring Lake San Marcos

Driftwood, I don't know if you remember or not, but before they closed for restoration, I showed up one Thursday to dive with you and John. Aaron and Taylor sent us downstream to cut coontail and it was the first time any of us had been to that part of the lake. I felt privileged to be part of...

Comal River Status for Saturday 6/1/13?

I know the Comal was shut down last Saturday because of the heavy rain. I've wasted the drive to San Marcos in the past just to find it was blown out by a heavy rain with zero vis. Anyone know if it's cleared up since Memorial Day weekend? I'm planning on diving it Sat or Sun with my daughter.

OTS Guardian Full Face Mask and a Beard

That's kind of what I suspected. I'm not FD or PD but I'm serving a as commisioner on our local ESD board. I see lot's of AGA stuff there. So, you are offering to service my mask for cheap? :D

OTS Guardian Full Face Mask and a Beard

The double seal was one of the reason's I went OTS instead of AGA. AGA is probably more popular with FD/PSD, but it was the first one of it's kind. Guardian seems to be thought of as the "recreational" FFM, but that's what I am.
