    Little Cayman question

We actually leave tomorrow for our second LCBR dive trip. The first time we spent the Friday afternoon at the end of the week (no diving) touring the small museum and the bird sanctuary. Both are a short walk from the resort. It didn't seem like there was much else to see. I know the front...

older diver needs easy diving recommendations

You will have very long boat rides from Provo to get to the good sites. I was going to recommend Grand Turk until I saw you didn't want wall diving. GT has calm waters, short boat rides, great viz and lots of fish. Your wife could always stay along the top of the wall. For strictly shallow...

Thinking about Grand Turk. Need advice

We went to Grand Turk for a week in July about 6 years ago. Stayed at Osprey and dove with Blue Waters. It was hot, but with all the diving time the sun felt real good between dives. Beautiful wall and shallow reef diving. Lots of fish and great viz. Cruise port is on the far south end of...

    Need Virgin Gorda advice

We did a trip to VG last year. Dove with Dive BVI (great operation) and stayed in a bungalow at Guavaberry Spring Bay. They have a nice beach that is like your own private Baths. I think you need a car to get around no matter where you stay. I don't recall any areas where you could stay an...

    grand turk or salt cay?

We have not been to Salt Cay, but really liked our week on Grand Turk. Stayed at Osprey Beach Hotel and dove with Blue Water Divers. Thumbs up to both. Really laid back place. Don't let the cruise ships worry you. They dock at the far end of the island and we never really saw them. We did...

Been to Cozumel & Bonaire - Considering Caymans, Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos

Based on your needs, I would recommend looking at Grand Turk. Check out Osprey Beach Hotel and Blue Water Divers. Diving all done from small skiffs with 4-6 divers. 5 minute boat rides. Very quite laid back place.

    Virgin Gorda in 50 Days

We just got back from VG (first week in April). Rented a bungalow at Guavaberry Spring Bay and dove with Dive BVI. Nothing but positive comments for Dive BVI. You'll enjoy the Rhone. If you have a car, make sure you drive up to Hog Heaven for a spectacular view and great ribs. If you like...

    Grand Turks dive information please

Diving is done on the West side of the island. One of the best dive locations in the broader Caribbean area IMHO. A beautiful wall with shallow reefs along the top. Short boat rides, no current, no surge, hardly any waves at all, great viz! I would guess water temps in June to be about 80...

Bonaire, Turks and caicos and Grand Cayman...Which one?

Since we have been to all these places I'll offer my ranking. 1. Little Cayman 2. Grand Turk 3. Cayman Brac 4. Bonaire 5. Grand Cayman 6. Provo Notes: Bonaire is lower only because we aren't big on shore diving. I know some people love the "freedom," but IMHO it is too much work! Provo is...

    Tough choice

Neither. T&C Explorer. For Turks & Caicos it is the best boat. Why do a live-aboard in Cayman. Best diving is on Little Cayman or Cayman Brac. Just go to one of those islands and spend the week. Why risk the fact that the Cayman Aggressor won't make the crossing.

Grand Turk or Provo? Who has been and what do you think?

Both places have great diving. Comparable to Caymans. Grand Turk is very laid back with little topside stuff, but the diving is close. Provo has tons of topside activities (very touristy IMHO) but the good diving (West Caicos, French Cay) is a long boat ride away. Grand Turk: Stayed at...

    Cayman Brac vs Little Cayman

We have been to both resorts (LCBR and BRBR) in the past few years. While I would also pick Little Cayman as my first choice (great diving, great food), don't sell Cayman Brac short. It does have a few advantages over Little Cayman to consider. While Bloody Bay wall on Little Cayman has...

    reality check on grand turk

We last visited Grand Turk in 2008. Stayed at Osprey and dove with Blue Water. Some of the best diving we have seen in the Caribbean area. And so convienient, 5-10 minutes to any site on a skiff, like diving on a lake. We did not have any issues with cleanliness of the island. We really...

    Luggage Question for Brac

We flew AA from Norfolk, VA to Miami connecting to Cayman Air to Brac just a month ago. On the way down, my wife and I each checked one big bag and carried on a roller board. We always take carry-on with important items (regs, mask, change of clothes) going in case the checked bags get...

    Reef Divers/Brac Reef diving question

We had pretty much the same group on our boat all week. One group from Phoenix, Dallas, Georgia, Canada. Don't remember anyone from SoCal.

    Reef Divers/Brac Reef diving question

I agree with BDSC..a very healthy marine environment. Reef Divers is currently the only dive op on the island, so the reefs don't get a lot of "traffic." I'm jealous, we didn't see any hammerheads! But we did spend about 20 minutes on our last dive laying in the sand watching a spotted eagle...

    Reef Divers/Brac Reef diving question

We were there last week. Our boat had between 12-16 divers everyday. But the boat is large and very well layed out (a 46' Newton Dive boat). So there was lots of space on the boat and we never felt cramped. In the water you can follow the dive master or go on your own. We usually lagged the...

    Brac with non-diver

We just returned from a week at Brac Reef Beach resort. Great dive resort but I would think it would be a pretty dull week for a non-diver. The beach nice but it is not a swimming beach. The water is just shallows with lots of coral, ironshore, and sea grass. There is some shore snokeling on...

    Bonaire Dive Sites

We were in Bonaire in March. It was our first trip, so I have no basis to compare. We did both north and south sites. I didn't see any difference in the condition of the reef. I liked the northern sites better because the reef is much closer to the shore. In the north we did Oil Slick Leap...

Looing for a good all inclusive in Roatan

We went to AKR last year. I agree with all the positive things said above. Recommend a key superior room. There were plenty of families with children and there seemed to be plenty for them to do. Based on my experience I'd say AKR is your best bet on Roatan.
