Schwaeble "So, I like the OP's question and all the replies. Good thread"
Me too, good replies
What have I learned from doing this drill?
1) If I take a big breath and let it out slowly, before doing an OOA drill, as my buddy gives me his reg, I'm going to start going up and flip up-side...
Yeah Storker, same thing. I'm letting my old friend and dive buddy know before the dive that I may go OA. When it happens I'm going to give the OA sign and slowly let out my breath as he/she donates a reg to me. At anytime I can put my reg back in my mouth. When I tell them before the dive...
So we all do the training in class of what to do when we go Out of Air, but how many of you let your dive buddies know prior to dive, you may go out of air on this dive? I'm talking about doing the drill not actually going OA. I only do this with other seasoned divers with lots of dives, (not...
Hi Marie13, the two ladies I dive with often, both use steel HP80. The rest of the boys are on at least steel HP100 and I'm on LP&HP 120's we all end the dive at about the same time with about the same amount of gas. I didn't want to be the one thumbing the dive all the time so I got bigger...
Maybe you just shot a 600 pound tuna and it's trying to wrap you up in the line, or drag you to the surface. How about a cave diver slipping their tanks off to squeeze through some rocks at 100 ft below the surface. I think it can be technical and physical, and scary. But the diving I do is...
I was saying that in context of a new student like the OP, threading it may be intimidating. I also said it looks like something from S&M. But I hope you know I was joking? their are no whips in the dive shop
I think the jacket style is better for easy on and off, no webbing to twist. For example if you were spear fishing doing quick bounces to see what down there, then a jacket may be better. It boils down to what you like and how much you want to spend
Comfortable on the deck of the boat or during the dive? Most people say that they like the tank locked into the hard BP so it's not rolling around during the dive, and that the lack of padding = less lead weight during the dive. And both are back inflate BCD one just has a hard plate and lack...
A back plate and wind (BP&W) is complicated to thread. Doesn't look like everyone else fancy super powered BCD. It has no padding. It has no pockets. It's just a mean looking S&M type thing. Why would any one want one? WHY!!!! Dive with one then you tell me the only BCD is a BP&W. You...
If you get the doubles wing and us it on single tank, it's going trap air on one side or the other, and in general make diving less fun. Once you go into doubles get ready to back up the money truck. I would think about getting a single big steel tank. then you can ditch some more wight and...
I did the PADI online course in 3hrs and took a small 5min test at the scuba shop. It was around $200. IMHO, I would not do it again. A fool and his money.
