    Regulator failure - theories?

Being a AL tech and having also worked on my fair share of Oceanic Regs, I can tell you that the only thing that the ACD and DVT share is their intended function, how they achieve this function is in two completely different ways. the DVT is reliant on tank pressure to open the valve (if i had...

    How heavy are your regulators?

My "Go to" Setup is My AL Legends (previous generation) W/ Atomic SS1 and Apeks Brass and Glass SPG. and it fairly hefty weight wise, likely in the 3kg range, the AL Legends 1st stage has quite a bit of brass to it and thus quite a bit of weight. When traveling I replace the 1st stage with a...

aqualung legend regulator with atomic ss1 integrated octo

I can tell you this is untrue, I have this exact setup and have never had my SS1 free flow at depth even beyond 130feet and in very cold water.

    SeaQuest Infinity replacement

The Legend is a great Regulator, though if you are worried about the price, I would look at the Titan LX You get most of the features of the Legend, for a lower price point. The only option you would loose it the inhalation effort knob (you can have it added for a relatively small sum of $) and...

Apollo Bio-Regulator A-110 Nrx: Your opinion?

I have a Bio-Filter on my main Reg and I LOVE it, I get intense cotton mouth without it and has made my diving so much more enjoyable. the 110 looks to be a Apeks style 1st stage with the integrated Bio-Filter. I don't have any experience with the Apollo regulators.

Water in first stage Legend LX Supreme ACD

That's good advice, and if you insist on using a dust cap replaced the dust cap with one from the 2012 Legend cap is it does not have this issue. The dust cap on my Legends got torn off at some point during a dive a few years ago and I never worried about it enough to replaced it... though you...

Difference between a 2004 Aqualung legend LX and today's model?

Build quality on both regulator are very high, I fail to see this being a valid argument. the Newer legend (2012+) has a venturi and breathing adjustment in one knob and a myflex-like hose. I have two older Legends LX Supreme with ACD, and don't feel the need to upgrade to the new Legend. (and...

COLD WATER Regulators. Who's the king of the Deep??

My recommendation for a great Cold water Regulator is a sealed Diaphragm 1st stage, and a metal barreled balanced 2nd stage with a I.P. in 115-130 psi Range. a good example of this is the SP MK17/A700 or S600 combo or Apeks XTX50.

Diving in the Bering Sea/frozen regulator

as was mentioned above you want to minimize the amount of moisture that is pumped to the 2nd stage, if you can get a moisture separator for the hooka compressor it should help minimize the freezing up quite a bit.

    Rebreather descent on Open Circuit?

I would not say it's any safer... if you were to have a malfunctioning unit, as opposed to finding out on the surface (or near the surface) you would only find out at depth. IMO that not where you want to find out your scrubber is wet and experience a CO2 Hit. if you want Easier, I would add a...

    Mk 20 UL/S600/R190

Also worth mentioning, if the tech has not encountered a MK20UL before they should be aware that they have significantly lower torque settings than it's brass twin. over torquing the main components have resulted in cracked regulator bodies, this was one of the main reasons Scubapro pulled this...
