LF Free Diving buddy near Rohnert Park

Not necessarily, but I'm not opposed to it either. I just want to dive and possibly do some photography type things. Like I said, I've never even been in the ocean, so it would be a whole new experience for me. Bamboo Reef is supposed to give me a call when my suit gets in, hopefully in the...

LF Free Diving buddy near Rohnert Park

I am in the process of ordering my equipment now and should have it within a week. I live in Rohnert Park, CA and am looking for somebody to go free diving with. Preferably someone with some experience, seeing as how this will actually be my first time ever even being in the ocean. (I...

Scuba Diving or Free Diving Cert first?

Thank you all for your help. I have decided to start off with freediving for sure. I may eventually get formal training, but for now, I think I'm just going to get in the water with some experienced divers. The people at Bamboo Reef were very honest about the gear (I felt) and didn't actually...

Rohnert Park, CA - Prospective Diver

Well, I stopped by the diving store today and talked to someone there for about an hour and a half, and I have to say: I am way pumped about getting out in the ocean to dive. I am going to start with freediving. Hopefully I will be ready to get in the water sometime in October or early...

Scuba Diving or Free Diving Cert first?

Wow! Thanks for posting that review. After reading it, I definitely think I will look into taking a course. I may still go with someone before I take the class, but I will at some point take the course for, if nothing else, increasing my lung capacity.

    Good deal? Proper suit?

Unfortunately, I think an XL would be too big for me. I'm about 6'0" and weigh about 165 lbs. Either way, I think my question has been answered. I need to keep looking. :)

Scuba Diving or Free Diving Cert first?

Would it be appropriate to wear a wetsuit in the waters of NorCal? Wouldn't it be better to go with a dry suit because of the cold? Again, I'm just learning as I go. Thank you all so much for your advice so far. I don't plan on freediving solo because I have heard too many stories about...

Scuba Diving or Free Diving Cert first?

Awesome. Yes, I guess there is a freediving certification, unless there is some misunderstanding on my part. It looks like "Performance Freediver" offers courses and upon completion, you get a "Certification Card" and a "Wall Certificate". It's $345 and I would rather skip out on that if I'm...

Scuba Diving or Free Diving Cert first?

Thank you! And actually, that brings up another question: do I technically need to be free dive certified to free dive? It may be a stupid question, but to me, diving may as well be an unheard-of concept.

    Good deal? Proper suit?

Hello everyone. I have been looking for a dry suit for either freediving or scuba diving and came across this "semi-dry" suit with boots and gloves. I just want to know if the price is good for the product/brand and if it would be appropriate for diving in northern California waters (which are...

Scuba Diving or Free Diving Cert first?

I am wanting to try both scuba diving and free diving. I'm not sure which one to get certified in first, though. I was thinking free diving because it seems like the equipment would be cheaper to purchase starting out and then i could later use that equipment when I was getting scuba certified...

Rohnert Park, CA - Prospective Diver

Hello everyone. I have become very interested in scuba diving within the past month or so and will hopefully be getting my PADI cert within the next couple months. I am trying to learn everything I can about diving before I actually do it so that I will be better prepared for what I might...
