How long is it safe to store air in your scuba tanks?

How long is it safe to store air in your scuba tanks safely without resupplying with fresh air? I personally would not use air that was over 60 days. (just my preference) How does Oxygen content degrade in stored scuba tanks? You start with an air fill with the normal 21% Oxygen. If you store...

    Kristina, A Ray of Sunshine

I really liked Kristina and miss her. She was a ray of sunshine. I came across her first posting after recovering from her first serious diving accident at Monastery Beach. She was a great combination being strong and tenacious with a kind and warm heart. I remember having lunch with her after...

    Mermaid Purse

I found a mermaid purse at Breakwater last weekend. This is the first one that I've found while diving. I think it is an egg case for a swell shark. The case is translucent and you can see the shark egg inside. Let me know if I identified this correctly.

    What is REAL Streamlining?

Streamlining is discussed a lot in the dive community. I find it remarkable that scuba diving is talked about as a streamlining sport. Car racing? Yes. Competitive swimming? Yes. But Scuba Diving? Mask, snorkel, tank(s), several hoses, regulators, SMB, weights, dry suit with two balloon...

Just bought a SeaLife DC1200...did I make a good purchase?

The DC1200 package is a good deal for the price. I've been using mine constantly and have had some fun results. I just keep shooting and some pictures come out great. It also is fun to review the pictures after the dive and seems like you are re-living the dive. Another benefit is that taking...

How to reduce a monstrous SAC

You are a big guy with big muscle mass and big lungs. You can't compare your SAC rate with smaller people. Women tend to have great SAC rates. It depends on each person. Relax, move slow and easy. Good buoyancy is a must because diving becomes effortless when you are relaxed with good trim and...

Help!! How to do a fast surface descent in a dry suit

Do some practice dives and learn the tricks to your suit. Some suggestions: check dump valve and make sure it is working correctly, Some under garments block good air release (DUI), air goes up, if the air is around your neck it is not going out your valve, keep bubble at the vent, push down for...

wrist mounted dive computer or attached?

I use an air integrated Galileo Luna wrist mounted computer with a simple brass & glass SPG. I have never had a problem with pairing or loosing signal but as a backup I have a separate SPG. I had an Oceanic Pro Plus console and it worked great but I love having all the info easily viewed on my...

    Pt Lobos Friday 12-30

The ocean is always unpredictable. My guess it will fine. I have dove there when bigger swells were forecasted. The launch ramp is well protected and I've never had a problem getting in because of surges but it can get slippery when covered with algae.
