I have been less than impressed when using DUI for repairs. I am local to their facility and used them for seal replacement on a competitor's suit. All they did was talk crap about the competitor and their products and ended up doing a poor job on the repair.
Overpriced, overhyped and snobby.
rpnick,
I vary my locations depending on conditions and the amount of hassle I want to go through. I have a Zodiac, so we end up in the kelp beds off Sunset Cliffs quite a bit. Also anchor off Boomer's and work the kelp there as well.
With a pole spear, you hold the rubber tubing as you describe. To "load" the spear, run your hand toward the tip of the spear, stretching the tubing. Hold tightly to the spear shaft until you are ready to shoot it. Open you hand and the spear goes in the direction it is pointed.

The main difference is the cut of the suit. Surfing wetsuits will put thinner neoprene in certain areas to make paddling more comfortable. Also the position of some seams will be different. I use a 3mm O'Neill surfing wetsuit when I dive in Hawaii and it works just fine. It has 2mm panels...
What is a "tech cut"? I got a custom suit from DC that needed to be redone twice because the dork at the dive shop did not know what he was doing when measuring. I cannot use an off the rack suit (picture short gorilla).
I was planning on ordering another suit from them this winter.
As...
I have the Duratek flex suit. I have over 75 dives in this suit and it is still a bit stiff. Also, the material is beginning to fuzz where my cumberbund rubs on my waist.
I will go with their Ultraflex next time. Put the kevlar kneepads on and it should wear fine.
Check some of the steel tanks and consider that you can strip some weight if you go with steel vs. aluminum.
You could get a smallish HP steel.
BTW, nice to see another Canuck fan on the board!!!!!
Thanks for the quick reply. I am unable to find any info on this brand. Are they still around? I can only find the Coyne steel 80 on any of the charts I have found.
Ok, I have figured out everything about a used tank I just obtained except the manufacturer. It is a LP95. Has the Canadian TC-3AA184 and DOT 3AA2400 markings. My understanding is that the manufacturer puts their identifying mark or name after the serial number.
The serial number for this...
PITA???? There is an organization fighting to protect the rights of our pocket breads???????
I belong to PETA....People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.
A child, dog or cat is much different than a shark. People tend to put humanistic emotions on their pets. That is a pretty thin analogy.
I guess most of you would be aghast if you dove with me. I do grab critters by the tail and poke rays buried in the sand. I also lobster hunt during...
Rather than getting panties in a bunch over sophomoric antics, look for the bigger issues that need our attention.
There are so many issues that are of greater impact on our oceans that people should be getting up in arms about. Commercial overfishing will ruin diving for everyone. A guy...
I have a Diving Concepts suit with cuff dump. I do like that the valve is small, but I think I will go with a shoulder dump on my next suit. Every time I vent my bc (I use it for buoyancy control), I end up dumping some air from my suit.
