Man, you sure got that right. Give me 3 hours at AUA vs any hours at MIA. No joke.

I don't remember waiting in sun. It was all under cover from what I remember. Someone else here on SB, and I can't remember who it was talked about using the US Customs MPC app on their Aruba trip. We did that, and it worked quite nice. We zipped through Customs faster than people with the pay...

Trip Report Aruba Trip Report, August 22-29, 2023

I feel the same for Aruba as far as the diving. I try and do a combo vacation/dive/island exploration trip wherever I go. My needs are simple though, if an island destination falls short in one area, but is fun in other areas, then a win...at least for me.

Trip Report Aruba Trip Report, August 22-29, 2023

Yes. For my preference, and in order, 1- Bonaire 2- Curacao 3- Aruba. I really enjoy shore diving and great visibility. That is why Bonaire was first for me. So many others here would have way more to say about this than me, but shore diving and visibility takes priority for my liking.

Trip Report Aruba Trip Report, August 22-29, 2023

This trip completes the ABC islands for us. Bonaire was 2003, Curacao in 2022 and most recently Aruba in August 2023. On the whole, Aruba was good diving and a positive island vibe vacation for us. I'm a vacation diver and can say with certainty that Aruba checked the usual boxes as a vacation...

    Best diving vehicle

No idea how they are for pulling, but see pretty well hooked up Sprinter Class Bs at the campgrounds/surf spots. I'm thinking hassle factor is less with Class B. But that is only a pure guess, have no experience with one. Only ever pulled a Casita travel trailer camping. For me, it'd be the...

Trip Report Macro photography in Aruba?

Good deal! Thanks for posting most recent intel from the field. Eating places noted. We've booked lodging, 3 days diving, only the car rental remains. Going to try hitting FIsherman Huts to learn kitesurfing or foiling for island activity for at least one day. I'm just bringing my usual Go Pro...

    Greetings from Florida

Hi 904, anywhere in our great state except Mayport. :) Out of all my dives here, diving during Goliath Grouper season down in Jupiter has been the most enjoyable experience for me so far.

    Trip Report Aruba Jan.21 - Feb.4, 2023

Thanks for honest write up/commentary. Have been kicking around this destination to complete the vacation diver trilogy with Bonaire and Curacao. My tourist dollars might go elsewhere, but still early in research gathering.

Trip Report Playa Lagun, August 21-26, 2022

Richard, That's correct, 1 dive per day. This was anniversary and dive trip, so had to allot time for island exploration and just kicking back. We stayed in Westpunt because when we travel to an island destination we don't like being around a deluge of tourists, and always seek out less...

Trip Report Playa Lagun, August 21-26, 2022

Day 1, 8/21 We arrived in Curacao airport with no issues from MIA on AA. Immigration control coming off of plane is done digitally. You go to the Curacao immigration website and enter your trip and passport information here. We didn't do this beforehand but most tourists arriving with us were in...

    Question 1st time to Curaçao

Sounds good, just added Old Market to my notes as well. I'm about eating where locals go, just prefer using plastic on vacation, is why I was curious about those local food stands...if they accept card.

    Question 1st time to Curaçao

Great info. Can I ask you about the local authentic eating places off on side the road? Did you use credit card for those places, or pay with cash? Thank you.

Trip Report Curaçao with Scubaçao July 4th 2022

Nice write up and pics! Curious, did you use offline maps on phone for driving around? If yes, what app on phone? Or, was that even needed when driving around? I plan on driving around every day on upcoming trip.

Curacao vs Bonaire ease of use

Thanks for tips, and noted. I saw the steps on Google Earth. And, will be snorkeling the first go around. Not a huge fan of steps and hauling dive gear, but might just make a couple of trips, not sure yet, will figure that detail out once onsite.

Curacao vs Bonaire ease of use

For now, shore diving with island exploration mixed in is the name of the game. I think, but not certain, that house reef might be most of the diving. If we do make it on a boat dive, it would be for one trip. Def will post report.
