Recommend Honeymoon Destination - Carribean, Bahamas, Etc?

Hi All, I owe my wife a killer honeymoon. I had to take off for a work trip 2 days after our wedding last October. So now its time to pay the piper (Don't start... I'll be living with this the rest of my life). I am looking for a great, adult-only, beach resort that is generally speaking...

Any Divers with Tinnitus??(ringing in the ears)

I have had it for 3+ yrs. I had a rapid ascent and ever since have had ringing in left ear. Then, due to too much time at bars and concerts, I have it in both ears. It is brutal when things are quite. Background noise is my friend. When diving, I notice it 10x worse during a dive because its...

    Metal Detector Advice??

Today I found a good price on a Garrett Infinium LS so I snatched it up at my LDS. Tomorrow begins the hunt. I chose this one because of the discrimination, ability to tune out salt-water/high mineral background noise and electrical interference, as well as the 200' depth range.

Diver Panic @ 135 ft. Rapid Ascent

Holy Sh*t. I dive the PNW in winter and the water is like 58 degrees. In a dry-suit with thermals im near hypothermic after 20 minutes. Taking all the other comments out of the picture, an instructor taking a class in 3mm neoprene under those conditions is reckless to say the least. He was...

    Metal Detector Advice??

Hi All, There seems to be a dearth of available information on the topic, and I don't necessarily want to rely solely on the available corporate propaganda. If you have input, experience, or knowledge on recommending underwater metal-detectors, I'd like to hear from you. I have always...

    Anti Fog recommendations

I have heard of divers giving themselves pink-eye from the spit method. I use sea-drops and the only time they failed, was when I forgot them...in which case I used spit.

    Tylenol Cold and Sinus?

I had a reverse block about a month ago from some MINOR congestion that occurred because it was a wet night dive and the surface swim caused my nose to start running. Painful like crazy and caused my tinnitus to flair-up for a week. It scared the hell out of me at depth because it was painful...

Method to take SCUBA gear on an ocean kayak excursion?

I'm thinking of fabricating an outrigger out of sealed (buoyant) PVC pipe and then using cordura webbing to create a lash-down / cargo-net area between the struts of the outrigger. I expect it will create a hell of a mess for weather-cocking, but seems that its the only-way to accomodate these...

Method to take SCUBA gear on an ocean kayak excursion?

Hey all, I do a lot of ocean kayaking and the there are many great dive-sights that straddle good kayak areas out here. Has anyone ever rigged up a way to haul their equipment and a couple tanks when ocean kayaking? Only thing I can think of is to tow a little inflatable behind me. Suggestions?

Is there a function benefit to different masks? Or decide on "fit" only?

What is the advantage of "Black"? My previous one was clear, because I thought it would provide less of a distraction. Is black better?

Is there a function benefit to different masks? Or decide on "fit" only?

So, I lost the mask I have been diving on for the past 5 years. IT was the first mask I ever bough, large, single-pane, seemed to fit my face, never had any leak issues, was a bit pricey, but for 5 years of problem-free service, I can't complain. Now that I actually know what I'm doing, and...

Astonishing New Sinkhole, Blue Hole Some Century In The Future?

Bowels is right.... in that area, with the storm sewers of a Guatemalan city draining into it, the LDS's down there will have to market "Dive the Brown Hole....Bring a lamp."

Lost Mask and Snorkle @ Whytcliff Yesterday (May 20th)

Hey All, It's a longshot, but I lost my mask and snorkel likely between the submerged steel boxes and the beach. If you find it and choose to return it, I'll offer up a delicious alcoholic beverage of your choice by way of saying "thanks!". Mask - TUSA, single-pane oversized mask w/ Clear...

    Feedback - Nautilus Explorer

hi Dan, thanks for the current information. My post was based on my most recent correspondence with Judith at the end of February. She informed me that you guys were returning to the PNW in 2011 and there was currently a waiting list for the circumnavigation trip, to which I had requested my...

    Feedback - Nautilus Explorer

Has anyone been on, and got any feedback, about their "Circumnavigate Vancouver Island" trip? They don't do it too often, if fact the next one is not until 2011. It seems like a great concept, but there is next to no information out there on the company or the trip. Thanks in advance.
