Help With Lens/Port Choice and What to Keep/Sell for Future Use

I've never used the Panny, but I love the Olympus 8mm. It's probably not worth the upgrade for UW use unless there's topside benefits of the Olympus lens for you (it's great for Milky Way shots, some Olympus features won't work with the Panasonic lens, etc.). I don't think there's a way to...

Help With Lens/Port Choice and What to Keep/Sell for Future Use

I'm not a huge fan of the 12-50, but I dove with the 12-40 for many years in a 170mm dome and liked it much more. Crop a bit and the near macro quality exceeds the 12-50 (IMO). Coincidentally, I just dove my AOI OM-1 housing for the first time yesterday in a pool, and it replaces an AOI...

For Sale Olympus E-M1mkIII with grip, extra batteries and AOI housing

Up for sale is an Olympus E-M1mkIII with less than 12k shutter actuations, HLD-9 battery grip, and a total of 3 Olympus batteries: $800 plus $20 shipped/Paypal'd in CONUS. I also have the AOI housing for this camera; it has been on less than 50 dives and has been meticulously cared for: $700...

    AOI UH-EM1 III housing

To add on to Bill's explanations, my understanding is that the trigger will do TTL only via the RC mode in the camera. This is a little confusing because you could get TTL with the YS-D2 strobes in other housings with Olympus cameras by just using the Olympus flash unit, or a dedicated trigger...

Oly 4/3 best lens for blackwater ....

Based on my experience with the dedicated Olympus OMD macro port and an AOI port, if what you have fits the 60mm, the 30 will also fit. Yes, you will be outside of the minimum focus distance, but it's workable. That's the cheapskate route- I recently bought a dedicated AOI port for the 30mm...

Question Anybody using the Olympus ports to AOI OM-1 housing?

Mine is from Inon. I don’t remember the model number, but they should all be the same optically.

Question Anybody using the Olympus ports to AOI OM-1 housing?

The AOI port adapter is clunky, but it works. I haven't tried an OMD port intended for the 8mm, but my guess is that it would vignette. I tried the macro port, and it was too long to be effective with the adapter, especially for the 30mm. I went with a PEN port for the 8mm; with the 34mm...

    AOI UH-EM1 III housing

Bill got here before I did; as far as settings the only thing I would add is that I have the camera set to fill flash as for whatever reason it won't let me shoot with reduced manual flash settings. While the AOI trigger doesn't do TTL with the D2s, it works great in RC mode with the...

AOI ports and + macro lens

I have the same housing for my M1mkIII- you'll love it. As far as the port, I initially went with the FLP-06 as you can use the 14-42EZ if you ever decide to go with wet lenses, or add the 34mm extension ring and use either the 30mm or 60mm macro lenses. I never did bother with the 14-42 or...

    Question Backscatter Mini Flash Accessories

I recently acquired a couple of MF2s and the snoot, so I've been giving the whole storage thing some thought as I'm in a drysuit and have enough crap in my pockets or dangling off me. Haven't dived with this stuff yet, but my plan is to store the snoot in an unused Ikelite battery pouch that I...

    EM5 mk 2 v EM1 mk 2

I'm not even sorry :) You'll love it- subject detect is worth the hype, plus it has better high ISO performance.

    EM5 mk 2 v EM1 mk 2

Kind of- there's lots of threads on the subject. Overall, the site is a great resource for all things M43, with lots of good "showcase" threads for different lenses (this has proven to be hard on my bank account).

Are you on the Mu-43 forum? I'd be interested in seeing your shots of Aussie birds.

    EM5 mk 2 v EM1 mk 2

None of my business, but since it's the internet I'm going to chime in anyways :) I have both the M1mkIII (primarily for underwater in the AOI housing) and the OM1; the difference between the two for bird photography is significant, and worth the money. If you enjoy bird stuff topside, you'll...

    OM-1 vs Olympus OM-D E-M10 IV

The 12-40 works well in a 170mm dome; it's what I've used for years and it's a great option for those dives where you don't know what you're going to get. 170mm is a significant size difference compared to the 8" AOI dome, and enough of a difference to make a difference when traveling.

    AOI UH-EM1 III housing

I upgraded to the AOI EM1-III housing from an M1 mkI in an Olympus housing. As Barmaglot notes, the strobe trigger is manual only. I had a Turtle TTL trigger with the M1mkI, and the transition to shooting manually wasn't as much of a pain in the @ss as I anticipated. What is a pain is using...

Compatibility between lens port and housing

I don't believe you can use the extension ring with that port as it's designed for the old 4/3 system. One end would need the PAD-EP08 adapter to mount to the housing, and I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to mount the other end to the PPO-EP01 port unless you could remove the "base" that goes...

Camera arrow pad setup -help EM5 mk2

I just tried to change mine, and I couldn't figure out a way to do it, either. It'll let me change the arrows to WB/ISO, but not aperture/shutter speed. I've always just used lever position 1 for that, but I can see where this would be useful if you have the lever set to something else like...
