    Diving Crystal River

All the above info about diving with manatees is correct. We go to Crystal River every other year to do exactly what you are asking about. Rent kayaks and paddle out to the springs with your snorkel gear so you can go whenever you want to and stay as long as you like. I also recommend American...

    Tobago questions

Hey ChillyinCanada! It has been over 15 years since I have been in Tobago but if I was going with you, I would insist on the drive to Speyside. We dove out of Crown point and some place else and it was nice but the diving in the North East part of the island was fantastic. The drift diving was...

    Blue Angel - Opinions

BA had "lockers" in April. They were concrete cubbies with plastic crates. My stuff was moved 3 times without my knowledge. After one dive I couldn't find my flip flops until another diver pointed at one of the dive master's feet! There was a lot of activity in the dive shop and I wouldn't...

    Diving in Costa Rica

Last July we stayed at a place called Hotel Jintes del Oso. It was absolutely perfect and wonderful. We dove several different sites around Cano plus went to Cocovado and took some other tours. Too much to do and not enough time. Hotel Jintes has a dive shop right on site. We always take our...

Gordon Rocks - to dive or not?

I dove Gordon Rocks when I had about the same experience as you have. It is a good thing to be apprehensive. It was not a recreational dive but it was beautiful. Amazingly awesome! I agree with galapagosexpert.... dive a few times before the Gordon Rocks dive, discuss your anxiety with the DM...

    Spring Fin Straps

Any recommendations about spring fin straps? I have XS turtle fins and am looking for advice on which spring fins are the easiest to use and attach to the fins. Which are better; the ones attached with pins or bolts? I hate putting my fins on and taking them off...

    Fort Myers Trip

Is there a dive shop in Fort Meyers that does local dives? When we were there in November we couldn't find anyone who would take us out into the gulf to go dive wrecks. All the trips were weekend trips to the Keys.

    holbox

Holbox is definetly worth the time and the adventure. We stayed with Hotel La Palapa. They were wonderful. Snorkeling with the whale sharks was so much fun. Right up there with snorkeling with manatees at Crystal Springs, dophins off of Cuba, and sea lions in the Galapagos. Spending time on...

ID fish from the Sea of Cortez

I think you are absolutely right about queens and kings.... and of course that makes sense ..... after all Elvis was (is?) the KING of rock and roll! Awesome critter!

ID fish from the Sea of Cortez

I can't stand identifying #3 a slimey slug. It is so disrespetful so I did a bit of research and determined the identification is = tambja abdere nudibranch. The Velvet Elvis still rocks!

How to get rid of Ixchel's revenge aka turista

AI = all inclusive??? We don't stay in those. Too expensive. Too sterile. The culture is "foreigner tourist." Stay where the residents go and eat what the locals eat. If it smells or tastes bad don't eat it. If you eat in small local family run places, food will not be mass produced, you...

Bat & Catalina island( Costa Rica) diving end of November?

We dove with Deep Blue Diving and stayed at Puerto del Sol as part of a package deal. Visited Playas del Coco in July and had a great time! Will go back again someday. Have traveled all over central and south america and was very pleased with both the dive shop and hotel. Saw Mantas and bats...

    Whale Sharks

Isla Hobox is a long drive but well worth it if you are going to stay a few days. But if you are only going to swim with whale sharks one day and are leaving the next day, go for the longer boat ride. It will be easier. Don't forget to turn your camera on before you jump in!!!!

Galapagos Scuba Diving Fatality - February 12, 2010 - Eloise Gale

Sansky! So true. ALWAYS LISTEN to the dive briefing. And if your guts say "don't dive" then don't dive. Another lesson to reinforce what we know we should know but don't always do. Wishing strength to all those impacted by this accident.

Bay Islands or Playa del Carmen?

Bay Islands. You will see much bigger schools and a greater variety of species. Go with a smaller dive shop if you really want to have longer and more up close and personal time obseving the critters.

    Belize vs. Honduras

Ambergris is a great choice and the Blue Hole trip will be a day you always remember. We have dived with Amigos del Mar everytime we go to Ambergris. Hope you keep the outer islands on your "to dive" list as well as the Bay Islands. Have fun!

    Advice on headaches/nausea please!

Sounds like nasty polluted air. Where are your tanks being filled? I noticed you are a new diver. Check out the location of the compressors. Is there diesel fuel or car exhaust, etc in the area? Are your symtoms occurring at different dive operators? Are other divers experiencing similiar...
