    Shark Attacks in Cozumel

Well, they're talking about a tiger shark attack in Cozumel, so yes.

    Back Roll Entry Head Injury

Welcome to the internet where everybody knows more than the next guy and his is always bigger. I got whacked by a buddy back rolling on top of me in Coz. Looking back it was pretty stupid how it happened. Three of us are on one side of the boat ready to back roll, current is moving front to...

Cracked Secondary Purge Cover -- again

This time the purge cover that has cracked is an Alpha 7. I've lost two Oceanic Octopuses to cracked purge covers. Is the Alpha 7 cover still available? Why does Oceanic use this soft plastic that rots out an cracks for parts that are designed to be flexed? There are 40 year old regulators...

    Rust on old moisture tabs

Yes, its not rust. Technically, its called verdigris -- a green or greenish-blue poisonous pigment resulting from the action of acetic acid on copper and consisting of one or more basic copper acetates -- and it shouldn't be there after you paid for a service. Whether or not it will hurt you...

    Dive boat down

We almost sunk a boat because my brother didn't reconnect the cooling water line properly. That boat filled up fast. I can imagine that hole like that would be tough to deal with at sea. Of course you have the "no problem" factor too.

    Rust on old moisture tabs

I think they should have been cleaned up shiny. They're just brass and they could have been cleaned ultrasonically, with acid or mechanically. It would make me wonder how good of a job they did with the rest of the regulator.

    LP Hose Evolution?

Inflator hoses have have a bit of an evolution too. Like from going from male couplings to female. And of course, a few of them are not standard even today.

Making difficult to find SP 109 parts. Adjustment knob

That's awesome! They look great. I don't have the lathe or the casting materials (and fortunately I haven't needed an adjustment knob yet), but this is really cool. Thanks for sharing.

Making difficult to find SP 109 parts. Poppet.

If you look a the picture of the two poppets side by side, you can seen where the brass has been ground down into the plastic poppet. Its only the thickness of brass tubing. The original seat is just bonded to the brass cap on the plastic. There really isn't enough rubber to re-use it. When...

Country of Origin for Regulator Manufacturer?

I'm curious as to where SP's regulators are currently being manufactured. I've always thought it was Italy, but I've seen some posts lately saying China/Taiwan or Japan. Are the other components (BCs, masks, fins, etc) made in Italy? Thanks.

    Regulators for steel tanks

Sounds like its just a physical issue that the valve on the steel tank was too big for the yoke. I've never had the problem where I couldn't get my regs to fit on a valve, but I've had a difficult time on some. I wouldn't worry about it since you've been able to use the reg over 100 times on...

    vintage calypsoIV regulator overhaul

I had a couple of these a couple of years ago. I located some old posts that discussed a recall that this regulator had in the 70s. I don't recall much about it, but I believe that there was an issue with the HP seat working itself loose. I recall having contacted Aqualung about it and them...

    Scubapro Modular Poppet D300, D350 D400

Before I go the ebay route, does anyone have a couple of modular Scubapro poppets for the D300, 350 or 400? Please send me a PM. Thanks.

Anyone ever see one of these before?

Take a look at that seller's feedback - about 83% positive. He disputes the latest negative, but there a number more.

    SP Air1 schematic?

Guys, thanks for the offers of sending the manual and schematics. I've sent PMs and emails. My PMs seem to be acting funny, so I don't know if they made it through. With regard to the diaphragm cover, does it just unscrew? It seems like it would, but I feel like I read somewhere that it was...

    SP Air1 schematic?

I just got my first Air1 off of ebay and I'm looking for a schematic for it. If the diaphragm isn't bad, I'd hate to damage it taking the thing apart. If there is a schematic floating around, could someone point me to it?
