    Anywhere beat Raja Ampat ?

Yes, the Blue Manta has a flat hull and uses almost twice the amount of fuel compared to the White Manta which has a rounded hull.

female share Raja Ampat 2024 Christmas trip

Agree wooden boats may be quieter with regards to engine noise but there a constant creaking from the wood when the boat rocks even when its anchored.

    Anywhere beat Raja Ampat ?

The Blue Manta and White Manta have different hull designs. The White Manta is more streamlined and therefore uses less fuel, hence the cheaper price of trips. The down side is it rolls more in heavy seas compared to the Blue Manta which is much more stable.

    Anywhere beat Raja Ampat ?

I recently did an Alor to Ambon on the Blue Manta in September. If you're keen on seeing large schools of hammerheads, the best time would be September to October.

Your Opinions on Comparing First Timer Coral Triangle Destinations?

September is even better for hammerheads as the thermocline is shallow. Just make sure you're on a Big steel boat and not a wooden one. Waves can be nasty due to the winds. Been on 3 Banda sea trips so far for hammers.

    Anywhere beat Raja Ampat ?

I would recommend the Banda Sea (Sep-Nov) or Halmehera particularly the straits between Bacan island and halmahera mainland.

Maldives Liveaboard Review with Apple watch ultra and Oceanic+

Haha! Never knew diving has become so complicated. All I have done over the years when diving on LOB is make sure I have above 200 bar at the start of the dive, do the dive, send up a SMB during safety stop and wait for boat to pick me up.

Maldives Liveaboard Review with Apple watch ultra and Oceanic+

I just checked my other computer which is an Aladin 2G, it does not show average depth as well. To be honest, until this thread, I never really considered about average depth all these years. As far as I know, the dive comps I used showed max depth and bottom time. Just for interest, what does...

Maldives Liveaboard Review with Apple watch ultra and Oceanic+

Hi Scubadada, Most dives were around 40-50mins. I was using a 15 litre tank. Not sure about the average depth, not sure of how calculate it. Usually, the 1st two dives of the day were channel dives or blue water dives. For channel dives it usually means descending to 30+m and hooking on to the...

When starting dives, I double clicked the orange button at the side once I start decending. The watch ends the dive around 0.6 to 0.9m.
