Experiences with the Hollis HD200 ?

I will be picking up my Hollis HD 200 today. I am wondering if anyone has done technical setups with this BC? I am a deep diver in the great lakes, frequently dive on wrecks. I would like ideas, tips and tricks how to mount staging gas on the HD 200, best Pony set up with this BC or any mods...

Looking to gain entry into commercial diving

I found this to be an interesting topic; a little history first - From the military (1980) I worked in the oil fields of OK, ND, TX as a Roughneck on the rigs. Well drilling in the US all but stopped so I took my passion for diving to Coastal School of Deep sea diving to become a commercial...

My indepth review of the Hollis NeoTek Semi-Dry

Welcome to the Board, it has been a while since I've been here, sorry for the delays. Mig Uel - I think you will be fine, mine was (and I do say WAS) loose in around the waist also but I could not get my shoulders into a smaller suit. The suit works well to about 60-80 feet fresh water then...

My indepth review of the Hollis NeoTek Semi-Dry

One other thing... I met my girlfriend on a group dive to a local quarry. I was using my Hollis suit, FFM and all of my deep dive gear just for experience and fun (not a deep dive). At the end of the day I gave her my phone number, she called me a day later. Talking with her here are her...

My indepth review of the Hollis NeoTek Semi-Dry

It has been a while since posting here on my results with the Hollis suit.. Here are my personal thoughts on this suit; It is a great build, I have dove it in 46ºF fresh water to a max depth of 25', no problems as far as thermal protection, works as intended. I was warm for indefinite amount of...

My indepth review of the Hollis NeoTek Semi-Dry

Initial take: I have received the new Hollis Semi-dry. I have not been in the water with it, rest of my gear is out for annual inspection. In a side by side to the SolaFX suit; the legs and arm material thickness is less than the solaFX but seems more dense however the SolaFX claims 8/7mm...

My indepth review of the Hollis NeoTek Semi-Dry

I have the Solaflex, Works very well BUT I purchased it before Hollis had This Semi dry on the market, I glued pockets to my suit and at the time everyone thought it was a great idea. I dive the wrecks in the great lakes - Kenosha Wisconsin / Milwaukee area most- with the Solafx. It has it's...

    Moustaches and mask flooding

Did you find a solution to the problem? I had the same issue and talked to my dive shop guys, they all have some sort of hair on the face. They all smiled - one guy walks over to the shelf and brings back a stick, looks like chap stick but it's not. It is called "Mask Seal" by Trident. My...

Searching for Dacor '78 era gear

I am searching for some older Dacor basic equipment. In particular I am searching for mid to late 70’s era masks, full foot fins and snorkels. Trying to find the stuff I purchased when I first started diving, I guess getting a little nostalgic. I was really excited when they started to put...

    I'm finally certified! Yay!

WTG! Not only did you deal with the stress of gear failure under water - you also delt with the weather above the water. Good job! And now comes the real test - food or new dive gear.

    When to help?

The instructors of the class are also friends. I will, in the end go to them and make sure I am on their page when it comes to where I should stand. I have the most trust in them. They know they can talk to me as well with their recomendations. All the input is great - I like the guy that...

Deep Sea 6.5 John+Jack vs Aqualung Solafx 8mm/7mm

I am at work now - HaHaHa... There are a few down sides to this SolaFlex I should point out to be fair; the nylon is not the type that will stand up to velcro, the shoulders have that "Pilling" going on after only a few dives. This is from my BC. I will make adjustment to the BC to keep this...

Deep Sea 6.5 John+Jack vs Aqualung Solafx 8mm/7mm

The SolaFlex - I am very happy with the suit so far. Let me tell you a couple of events with the suit; When I don't do regular sport diving, I go metal detecting in water ranging to about 20 ft, FW. The air temp was 19 degrees F, the water temp was 37 F. 10 ft - 14 ft depth. I was in there...

    Aqualung SolAfx 7/8mil Semi Dry

One pointer for you - the last inch or two of the zipper can be a bear solo - I found if you extend your right arm and rotate the arm / hand clockwise to straighten the zipper it will close with a pull of the left hand. I could not get the method show in Aqua Lung to work for the last 2 inches...
