And to Chilly's point - It is not uncommon to have to "Vent" from your BCD on your way up. "If" you are using the BC for Buoyancy Control. Which he would have been, since he was diving in...
I was on the boat (Vision) and in the water. There was a fatality. Here are the basic details:
Diver (Fatality) had over 100 logged dives
The bank (Farnsworth) was about as pristine as I have ever seen it. No current. Hardly any surge and about 50-100+ feet of vis. Made a dive to 130 +/-...
Very sad...Condolences to the family and all involved.
I certainly hope this one accident does not become the impetus for the USFS to close Clear Lake to diving. I have probably 15-20 dives there including deep and night dives. It is (just barely) an altitude dive and typical water temps...
Things I can definitely verify regarding Waldo - It is VERY clear (100+ Vis)
- It is cold 48 degrees
- It is pretty bare...Not much to see. Fun dive just because!
