I can appreciate a worn and well used look if the gear has actually been used...but after one dive and it seemingly appears that the finish is wearing off the metal, now that I can't really appreciate. Maybe I just got a lemon? I will call DR tomorrow and see if this is a problem.
I rent tanks and only use single tanks. I have dual SS cam bands. It is not a huge deal, they just seem to be a bit in the way. Last week one of the pads got smashed in the buckle and mangled it quite a bit. I was just wondering what the consensus was on tanks pads.
I purchased some Highlands stainless steel buckle cam straps for my BP/W setup. They came with rubber pads to put under the buckle to protect the tank, but for me they just seem to get in the way. Do you guys use pads with your SS cam bands? Thanks
I have a black anodized aluminum BP made by Dive Rite with only about 15 dive on it. The last 10 dives were in salt water and I soaked the BP/W in the rinse tanks immediately after each dive. I noticed after the first salt water dive after the BP had dried it looked like their was an oily film...
What do you guys use to carry or transport your lead in when going diving? I don't want it to be loose in the truck. Do you guys keep your lead in your dive bag with your other gear?
Thanks
I need a way to protect my computer, compass, lights etc. while carrying them or storing them in my dive bag. Right now I keep them in wool socks to just protect them from getting scratched. What do you guys use to protect your gear?
Thanks
I have a HOG D1 set and Edge Epic II regulator set. I don't have any tanks that I can attach these reg sets to at my house, is it ok to soak these reg sets in warm water with the dust caps attached?
These are both new so I don't want to do something dumb and ruin them. Thanks
I will piggyback this thread and ask another related question: If I hire a private DM to be in the water with me, do I also tip him as well as the boat and what is the acceptable rate for DM's?
I want to thank everyone who posted in this thread. You guys are really posting some amazing stuff. Those two articles that were posted are an invaluable source of information and I am going to read them until I can repeat them backwards. Thank you everyone.
Thank guys! I'm going with the Dorcy. Any tips on how to attach this particular light to my D-ring on my harness? I am assuming a SS double ender but how do you clip to the light?
I need a small LED light to clip to my harness for OW diving for when I need to see in hole, under a ledge etc. I'm not looking to break the bank but I don't want to buy junk either.
I have seen a few people lately discuss having a spare mask in a pocket while diving. Is this the status quo to dive with an extra mask or is this considered overkill to most? And I am not talking about having an extra mask in your gear bag topside.
Possible dumb questions inbound...
I purchased a dive flag recently. It has a 3' fiberglass pole with a styrofoam float and a metal wire that is looped around the float. It also came with a flag (not attached) that has a metal cross support that goes across the flag.
My questions:

Thank you for your reply Capt. Gary. I actually booked my dives with you guys last week. I really don't know how flexible your schedule is and whether or not I would be able change a dive time on short notice due to conditions?
It sounds like the morning dives are the way to go, so I will...
