Today was not as good as yesterday at Point Lobos. Though inside the cove was marginally better but you needed to get deeper than 30 feet for it to open up to a hazy 20 feet of vis. Still brown shallow. Deep deep like 100+ was 40 foot but dark.
Wednesday 8/12/2020 at Point Lobos - vis in the cove was a very brown and less than 5 feet. Deeper we went the better the vis. At Betos Reef (90-120 foot depth) vis opened up to 40 foot making for a nice dive. Seems the shallows are suffering from bad brown plankton filled vis. You could see it...
Well...it's kinda relative, I got certified in Monterey in 1986 and have never dove the barge so for me it was interesting. It's largely unrecognizable as a vessel but it still sits 1-2 feet off the bottom and about 50 feet long I would guess. You can tell it's man made. Further, the California...
Breakwater Mon/Tues April 29/30 - Did a few dives at Breakwater, conditions were placid with 55 water temp, vis was 15-20, better on Tuesday. Followed the Breakwater wall out quite a ways until we found the line leading to the barge. Made it to the barge and did a couple of laps and returned the...
I don't know for sure but I would guess it goes much deeper than that.
Note: I should have corrected my original post, Rubicon Wall is south of Meeks Bay, not sure what if any name is given to the steep slope/wall off Meeks Bay.
You pretty much dive right off the beach. There is a shelf about 100 yards out that gets to about 30ish feet deep and the there is a steep slope down to who knows how deep.
It’s a National Forest Campground/Dayuse area. There is a $5 fee and it’s very obvious where to park. Here is a link: recid=11813Lake Tahoe Basin Mgt Unit - Meeks Bay Campground
Thanks Sam, That flag was the flag of Cordell Expeditions and not a dive flag. Yes, we were missed by the fires thankfully and I am sorry to hear about your daughters property. The positive thing is how much the community came together both the night of the fires and in the aftermath. The death...
If your interested in some local diving history read on. Otherwise the quality of the video and photos will not impress you and otherwise might be a bit boring. I know some of you have had the privilege to dive Schmieder Bank and know first hand what an amazing place it is. I hope to get back...

I was only at Meeks Bay. Here is a link to a dive shop in Reno that shows general conditions: Lake Tahoe with SDC I would send them a message or the other shop in Reno: Scuba Diving Lake Tahoe | Adventure Scuba Center | Dive Lake Tahoe and ask or maybe one of the other shops near Sacramento who...
MeeksBay by UWPhotoKeith posted Jun 18, 2018 at 10:44 AMDid two days of training dives from the Federal campground at Meeks Bay this last weekend. My first time diving in Lake Tahoe and would definitely go back! Visibility was very good, 30' or so, water temp ranged from the upper 50's down to...
This is the first dive computer/wrist watch I have considered purchasing mainly because I already have a Petral and love the simple and clear Shearwater interface. The Teric looks to follow the Shearwater dive computer design philosophy. For a technical diver the Teric would make an excellent...
