Well my question was asked about their service kit parts, not about what other materials are acceptable. Didn't hear back, but that is just customer service.
Apology:
Ok, my response was maybe a little rough. I apologize to SCUBA1951 for my abrupt response. It was not in the spirit of this board.
The message is this...
Using a forum such as this to get ideas on construction and materials for a platform is a great idea.
Using this...
Try flooding the drums until you get the platform in place and anchored, then add air to the drums to put the platform in place.
If you gotta ask, you probably shouldn't be doing this...
Just tested out a great idea for a tumbler.
Set up a board and some rollers and put the tank on mytreadmill. Works great as a tumbler, and the variable speed is real nice.

That's downright cool.
I Like Abyss, they seem to have good products and they treat dive pro's well with pricing. The last 7 tanks I have bought, have been through them. I also have bought a lot of parts and accessories through them.
Their backplates look nice, but I don't know of anyone...
Correct.
Althogh, I am actually suprised to hear someone acknowledge that shops need to make money. A lot of the sentiment on this board has been that shops are robbing people because they have to mark up their merchandise.
I am not a shop owner, but I do have a very good relationship...
Wow, kits aren't that expesive.
Maybe $15/ Stage ($19 first/ $11 second) if you are using the manufacturers parts kits. If you are using your own parts it is a heck of a lot cheaper. At most $.40/ o-ring and maybe a buck or two for a HP seat..... CORRECTION: I just looked it up...
I am trained on Apeks regs. If you have the tools, the know-how, and the parts servicing these regs is pretty easy.
While I am quite willing to say that a lot of people are capable of servicing their own regs, their are probably just as many who have no business opening a reg.

Does anyone know what material Aqualung and Apeks uses in their parts kits.
Doesn't seem to be Viton, and Aqualung hasn't approved viton for use in its regs. So are the kits EPDM or Nitrile?
Also, anyone know the different durometer specs for these o-rings?
Yes, a couple of things.
1) Make sure they ditch the weight.
2) Teach them that they don't have to fully inflate the BC.
If the weight belt is ditched you don't have to worry about an overweighted diver.
If they have non-ditchable weight in the form of a p or v weight, they...
Anybody know where I can get ahold of a 1/2" plug for my Apeks?
I got the 3/8" hose, but now I need to plug the whole.
I suppose I could go by the shop and get one, but I would like to have a stash of them around.
Are you talking about the AirSource 1?
I am looking at the diagram for that one.
There are two sections in the diagram that I am looking at.
One, there is a purge button that looks like it pushed down on the diaphragm. There is another part described as the purge retainer.
Neither...
I like the look of the XL ones from reefscuba. I just ordered a batch of the brass ones. The SS was just a little too salty for me.
42 degrees is cold enough for me, we get that year round deep at the quarry I dive. I am diving with diving concepts dry gloves, but sometimes I have a...
I would like to find a good (inexpensive) source for large brass or stainless bolt snaps.
Anybody have a good supplier.
P.S. The CD section at home depot does not have any large enough.
Enjoying getting to know everyone..
