We have mandatory training once a month which isn't nearly enough so most of us get together once a week for a dive or two. We also have a standing "dinner and dive" on Wednesdays where we bring our own dinner and, dive, eat and watch the sun go down over the lake. Nice way to stay proficient...
Jackson,
I've had nothing but great experiences with Dive Rescue International and would recommend any of their training to my fellow PSDs. I knew going in that the PSSI course was going to be physically challenging and I certainly wasn't disappointed. I thought I was an OK diver going in but...
I assumed when I first read this that it locked up if you remained at 3' for 3 minutes without a safety stop... I see now that it's a decompression stop... you probably aren't making dives that have a decompression obligation anyway (at least I hope not with 0-24 dive in your log assuming your...
We sure were... I absolutely fell in love with Tenkiller during the sequester and Beaver Lake was shut down. We really do need to plan a dive together. I have done nothing but train and prepare for training this summer so I have not gotten a whole lot of recreational dives in. I did get my...
Was in the lake on Sunday. Stayed above the 'cline which starts at about 22 or 23 feet. Viz was around 5 to 10 feet. I hear it's not bad once you get below 60' by the bluffs but I have not been down that deep since May.
+1 on learning more about being a PSD... whole different ball of wax. My team does it's training with Dive Rescue International and they require you to already be a member of a public safety agency to receive training from them. Can't speak for the other certifying agencies but you may need to...
Finished Dive Rescue International's PSSI course yesterday!!! Holy Moly What a week! Can't recommend the DRI PSSI course enough! By far the best and most challenging dive training I've ever been through...Not for the faint of heart though!!
I'm really surprised by this. I've be dealing with that shop for years and never had a problem with air fills. I was there that day as well and remember having to wait longer than normal for a fill because the cascades were emptied. My air was fine. I should also add that I do dive nitrox...
Jeez-o-Pete Chicken Fried... I won't go near beaver without a dry suit this time of the year. We dove Bennett Springs in Lebanon, MO this past weekend and it was great despite the snow. the air temp was 19 degrees but the water was a balmy 56. Unfortunately Bennett Springs is only open to...
Dove the ledges on Saturday. It's a bit cold... 61 degree on the surface and 55 degrees at 70' I was fine in a 7/5mm wetsuit with a 7mm hooded vest... feet got a little cold. Viz was spectacular at maybe 30'. I got video with my new GoPro... check it out here- 4 26 2014 Beaver Lake Ledges...
ok so gary and i dove the ledges on saturday... i did it in a 7/5 mm wetsuit with a 7mm hooded vest and it wasn't too bad and I'm pretty sensitive to cold... avon and i were thinking about finding the wreck off campsite #9 after the DOG Rally on Sunday... anyone else up for it? We could all...
Yep it was harsh... and while maybe Jim could have put it more kindly I think everything he said was valid... The sooner a diver realizes that he or she is responsible for their own safety the better. That being said, your instructor was a train wreck and absolutely should be reported. This was...
