unfortunately, i went to order a new AquaLok 3mm suit last week, i was told Henderson was discontinuing the line. very disappointing. So i'm trying a greenprene. Not sure i like the feel of it. we'll see how it goes.

    Dive Medicals

I don't necessarily disagree with some of the comments here. Scuba is a self-regulating industry. But i voted "yes". A medical form is required by our training agencies for every class. If certain things are checked as a "yes", a physician approval is required. Some classes (divemaster and...

    Instructor Professionalism

I'm a TDI-SDI Course Director (and the senior instructor at our shop) and our shop teaches a LOT of tech. Diving is fun. the behavior you described is not. Tech is as much about the mental game as the physicality of it. Such negative behavior is both stupid AND dangerous. We build and practice...

    Cayman Brac - Dec 2024

the nitrox package makes this better than the rack rate. When you add Nitrox (another $180 or so) you end up with a good deal going with us. And i find that having a dedicated boat/crew for a group works out great.

For wreck diving and for teaching wreck diving i use DiveRite Slidelock reels. I have 2 250' and 2 450'. Plus a couple of 100-150 foot finger spools. A couple of Carter Bag dSMBs (1 8 foot and 1 10 foot). plus a 5 foot pink backup marker.

Looking for a good tech instructor

The community of true elite tech instructors is a pretty small world. So many instructors "claim" to be tech but have little to no practical experience outside of teaching and training. I would definitely go TDI. That said, presuming that you don't want to come to Florida, i would recommend you...

What are the busiest TDI shops/instructors? Who is teaching the most courses?

I'm a TDI instructor (Course Director) at a busy shop in Florida. We do a fair amount of TDI classes. We're coastal so it's ocean stuff (mostly).

Unknown Woody From “Dive Talk” DCS and Medical Journey

DAN did publish something about planned changes (even prior to Woody's incident). The incident showed DAN that they needed to move faster on implementing those changes.

Trip Report Little Cayman Beach Resort February 2024

thanks for the report. I've done Cayman Brac (CBBR) a couple of times and am running another trip back there in December. Much the same from what you say. CBBR runs similarly. The staff is awesome, the diving great! i really like the "low key" pace of CBBR. Plentiful food and a varied menu...

    Scuba Works in Jupiter

here in south Florida, any op that does not include boat dives for OW class is doing their students a huge dis-service. Drift diving and boat diving are CRITICAL open water skills here. It is cheaper for the op and more profitable to just dive BHB. I see those divers all the time coming from...

    Little Cayman in September?

the resort is FANTASTIC. As for hurricanes...i live on the east coast of Florida. Just be sure to get travel insurance. September is actually the statistical height of hurricane season (September 10th). So, you never know. I'm heading (back) to Cayman Brac (my favorite place) in December with a...

    Scuba Works in Jupiter

Scuba Works has been around for years. They do not seem to allow rebreathers on their boat even diving recreational profiles. So that leaves me out.
