Orange / Yellow DSMBs - and their use as signals in Tech Dives?

Some of the guys down here in SOCAL are starting to use this system; however, they are using a yellow DSMB for ascent and an orange one to indicate a problem. I think the end result is that they are trying to create a system that the lifeguards can recognize at LaJolla Shores to alert them of an...

    Halcyon bp "pad" removal

When I take mine off I use a set of vice grips and clap the edge of the disk to the backplate and the lining material then use the screwdriver to take it apart.

Could be trouble for leisurepro and others

OK, here is how LP gets the latest and greatest gear from SP and others. There are large dive shops (won’t say who they are) that order a large amount of gear from someone like Scubapro. The dive shop orders the gear under the guise that it will be used for rental gear because SP does...

What watch do real divers wear?

I only wear a dive watch for pool dives and as an everyday walking around time piece. For diving I use bottom timers and computer. As far as a watch goes I like the Citizen Eco-Drive professional diver's 300m. It will be in the 300.00 range. A little heavy but not too bad.

    What is this ????

On the diveskin site by Oztex they say... Use: Protects skin from coral cuts, stinging jellyfish and sunburn. Getting into a neoprene suit has never been easier. Where: Warm, tropical waters OR under neoprene in colder waters to give additional warmth and make getting in and out of your...

    What is this ????

Mine do. There are many outfits around that make some sort of "diveskin". The kneepads on mine are very thin, the ones in the OP photo look better than mine.

    DUI Drysuit Questions

I use a CLX 450 Signature Series that is Cordura on top and bottom and that suit is very strong. The down side for some is that the Cordura material will make it less flexable than other material options.

    What is this ????

Its just a diveskin. You can wear it under a wetsuit or a drysuit. I use one under my wetsuit so it goes on real easy. I use it under my drysuit in warmer waters or you could just wear the diveskin as is in warm waters just to keep the nicks and scratches off of you.

    Nitrox Question

It all depends on what % of O2 you plan on using in your mix. Lets say 60 feet on air will give you 60 min NDL. Now 60 feet on 32% may give you 100 min NDL (IANTD Charts). Basic EAN will be 32% or 36% for the most part. Other mixes are used for DECO mixes or deeper dives to lower your PPO2. Now...

    Missing Diver at Lake Pleasant

I am sure the last thing this family wants is to witness another tragic loss. Dive-aholic is spot on for this dive. Depending on your DECO profile, the average diver is going to burn almost 200cf of mix for a 15 minute bottom time at that depth and then endure about 85 minutes of deco. That...

    Missing Diver at Lake Pleasant

"This isn't completely accurate. I'm part of a non-LE organization that handles all recoveries/rescues because most LE divers are not trained or capable of performing the recoveries we do. These recoveries occur in caves and to depths beyond recreational limits." Isn't that what I just...

    Missing Diver at Lake Pleasant

Well from a PSD diver point of view, most LE dive units will hold at a max depth of 130. If the victim is located well beyond that limit, they will most likely bring in an outside agency to do the recovery. Thats not to say that there are no local divers who could do it, its just that the...

    Highland Delrin Nuts

I have a few pairs of them for various doubles. I bought these to keep the wing nut tips from rubbing on my drysuit because the canvas that covers the backplate it just under the wingnuts. I am afraid of turning them too tight and then I will strip the threads. I used them the other day and...

    Tank maintenance and rust

The boot you have on your cylinder is a self drain boot, I can see the ridges in the photo. I have some Faber 120's with the solid rubber boot that drains poorly; however, a UWK boot will not fit this cylider because the ridges are too thick. You do realize you just oprned the door for the "GUE...
