anyone considering fossil diving Charleston SC?

All of my fossil diving was just south of Charleston, in the Beaufort area. I found alot of good fossils which I gave alot of them away to family and friends over the years. Still kept a few 3 to 5 1/2 inch teeth though. My most productive areas were battery creek, broad river, beaufort river...

    Back to Shaw's Cove [Video]

I used to use shaws for some of my ow students, I miss all of the spots there. Someday I will be back. It seemed like the older I got the steeper the stairs were, but they were nowhere as bad as the old wooden stairs at swami's in encinitas.

You will fall in love with catalina, or any of the channel islands, I was born and raised in CA and started my diving career in the kelp. My military career allowed me to dive around the world, and I now reside in FL. The warm water and coral are nice, but just do not hold a good kelp bed. A...

Only one drive trip...Channel Islands or Catalina?

Having dived all of the islands over a period of years, the only reason I would say catalina above the rest is because of avalon. Its one of those places you just find relaxing and peaceful.

    divergal80

I agree with you about SoCal diving. I was able to dive some unique places in the world due to a military career, and live in So. FL now. The biggest thing I miss is the kelp, I love the coral but there is something magical about kelp to me.

With students I did not like any vis less than 10 ft. Fossil dive in the SC rivers during summer, if I had 10 inches if vis I was tickled to death. Winter time we would have 3-8 average
