+1 for what Tony said. Have you dove to 130' in the Great Lakes before. Two HP 100's where one is a mix for 80' (cant use on the dive) sounds like a great way to ace yourself. Sidemount (like doubles) is about having more available gas for yourself and your buddy. If one tank is MOD 80' what's...
I tried putting some of the grommets i just bought into some 1" webbing tonight and the grommets worked very well. The cutter struggled to cut the webbing. I got through it however. I would recommend them from Sailrite.
Try one in 20' of water for ten minutes and you will figure it out pretty quickly. My buddy and I scootered all last season and it isn't rocket surgery. It is very easy and makes the dive very enjoyable especially where we dive there is a good current. I suppose if a resort asked for a card...
I just bought 50 stainless grommets and the tool to install them from
http://www.sailrite.com/
The grommets are sold individually at about $1.00 a piece and the tool was about $50. I got the tool and 50 of them for $110 shipped. Sailrite has a lot of really good stuff. I just built a harness...
I made this because I really like the shape of the razor bladder. It is IMO the right shape for sidemount. What I didn't like about the full Razor harness was the way the shoulder straps were ran. I also am partial to high seas hardware, I had changed all the d rings on my last harness to that...
I would avoid Akona bags. I used mine for two trips, the wheels broke. Then I fought for over 8 months to get any satisfaction. They eventually decided to cover the bag once I proved it was a design flaw. Their rep told me that they cant design a bag that will survive airline handling. I will...
I have dove quite a few times off of my buddies 40' Beneteau. It is a gorgeous sail boat. It is somewhat difficult to dive off of due the stanchion for the wheel and the cockpit is somewhat limited. this boat is a racer so its a little tighter than a cruiser type. The swim platform is decent. We...
Outside of Canada I always tip the dm and the crew. Usually 10$ to the dm and 5$ to the crew. So typically 20$ for a two dive day. I agree that many people do not tip. They may do it discretely also as that is how I typically do it also.
I Canada on a technical charter there is usually only a...
My progress on my version of the Razor. I did not do this to save money but to route the webbing slightly different than the Razor and have a little fun with my mill. Nothing wrong with the actual Razor just my own tweak for my own reasons... The site will be updated once I get a chance to dive...
The Petrel display is an LCD with LED backlight. The Xeo is an OLED like the predator. I like the Xeo, I haven't dove a petrel yet. I was comparing to a typical LCD display found in most/many dive computers, including ones i own. If the petrel is as good as the Xeo then that's great. Why does...
Liquivision Xeo or Kaon have super nice screens. It doesn't matter how bad the vis is you can read it easily. There is no backlight as it is an OLED screen. Once you use this type you will never go back. The tap functions work well underwater also. I had an issue with my Xeo turning on on land...
