Couples Negril in Jamaica now has NITROX

Thanks for the info Betty. We're going in April for our fourth trip. Love that place. Friends of ours just got their OW certs today (congrats Pennie and Ryan) are going with us. Like you say I'm wondering if the cost is worth the nitrox. I do want the training so I may get it done just to try...

Are Rescue Skills really needed by the average diver.... ?

More than anyone else an instructor needs rescue skills. Please don't be so patronizing.

Are Rescue Skills really needed by the average diver.... ?

I interpreted the question as "Does the average diver need to take the Rescue course?". I also would define average as, well, average. Like me. I didn't claim I knew everything about diving. One of the reasons I frequent ScubaBoard is to learn. I paid attention when I took my OW class and put...

Oceanic Islander or Cressi Aquapro 5

The wife and I both use the Islander II. We both really like it. Well made, simple and light weight. It has enough attachment points for my kind of diving. I think the pockets are a plus. The back inflate took about a minute to get used to. Not sure what the difference between the I and II are...

    Cold water and computers

True, my computer doesn't know what protection I am wearing but the OW manual makes the blanket statement to add 10 ft. I was just wondering if computers used the "add 10ft" rule.

    Cold water and computers

After some reading, page 220 of my PADI OW Dive Manual states "When using the RDP for planning a dive in cold water...plan the dive for 10 feet deeper than it actually is."

    Cold water and computers

I was reading the skin bends thread in the A&I section and the comment about water temp got my attention. During my training I was told to add 10ft. to a dive when diving cold water. Do computers account for water temperature or is it something I should keep in mind when doing cold water and...

    ProPlus 2.1 Lock up

My wife and I were doing a refresher course last night when her computer froze. It was working in the pre-dive check and it appears to have froze upon entering the water. It's brand new and only been in the pool once before. The LDS has it and is contacting Oceanic to see what can be done but I...
