If you're going to pay for an extra dive, I'd go with a smaller operation like Flamingo Divers, Caicos Advertures or Oasis Divers. There is also a seasonality to diving in Provo. In the winter, conditions can get a bit too rough on the north shore - off Grace Bay Beach, so Beaches will move...
Hi all, I have clients who want to go to Oahu for 2 weeks around the end of January. During their trip they wanted to do some shore diving on the North Shore. On doing some research here, it looks like that's not a possibility. Wondering if there are any shore diving sites that are accessible...
Not sure if this qualifies as funny...but in Bonaire, we were getting back on to the boat after a dive at Klein Bonaire. One fellow was a looking a little upset. Some line etiquette had been broken, waiting to get back onto the boat. But what he said to his wife as he climbed on board, is still...
Budget is basically open...within reason. Whatever I end up buying will be the system I will have to live with for the next 10 years or so, lol. May have to add on in pieces, but I know the basic components will be several thousand dollars to do it right.
To Pat W's point...are there any stores...
I say rent a car while you're on Provo, especially if you're going to get groceries. We were going to Middle Caicos a couple of years ago and asked the cab to make a stop at the airport. For some reason, he called another cab and transferred all of our luggage and had this other guy wait for us...
For an anniversary trip, consider the Paul Gauguin small cruise ship. A romantic way to travel and will give you variety of destinations that are not accessible to larger ships. Perhaps a nice balance of spending an amazing anniversary together and doing some diving at the best spots. They have...
Hi all,
Before I got married and had kids, we used to go on several dive trips a year. I loved u/w photography. Over the years I built a nice S&S system with MMIIex, all the lenses you could buy, 2 strobes (YS-60 was the main one), etc, etc.
Had kids, trips got cut down to maybe 1 per year...
I love Turks and Caicos too - it is my favourite Caribbean diving, but if OP only has OW cert, they might want to consider getting AOW for this location as most of the walls start below 40 feet. However, many people get their OW here with no problems. Except for the depth factor, the diving here...
Late September is still hurricane season, but if there are no storms, often the best conditions can be found diving from the South side. Dive Provo is a very good company. I don't know anything about Caicos Adventures. I've been out diving with Ocean Vibes and Flamingo Divers and had great...
I am so sorry to hear about your wife's condition. Yes, do look into your credit card to see if they have any coverage. Many times, however, they include "travel insurance", but it doesn't cover trip cancellation.
The official terms and conditions on the Aggressor's web page says that 100% of...
I did a liveaboard years ago that left from St. Maarten. We did no diving around St. Maarten itself, but we did St. Kitts and it was really good...saw lots of large sea turtles. My second choices would be either St. Lucia or St. Thomas.
Turks and Caicos is my favourite place. Lots of big animal life! It is not cheap, but there are more affordable options out there. Flamingo Divers is the best for small groups or Dive Provo is very well respected too.
I agree with others....either Bonaire, Grand Cayman or Cayman Brac! Liveaboard might be a bit much for the new divers? On the other hand, it might be a great way to see tons and gain a lot of experience!
We just got back from Long Island. I'll be posting a more detailed trip report in the next few days, but a little bit of info...
I was very impressed with the diving there...I wasn't expecting much because I couldn't find much information. It's not a diving destination, per se. Not in the...
We've almost always seen sharks in Turks and Caicos - especially around West Caicos and French Cay. At some of the sites they are quite curious and circle around the dive group for the whole dive.
If you wanted to do the cavern diving, it might be more convenient to stay somewhere around Playa Del Carmen. Or, stay in Cozumel where the "non-cave diving" is a lot more exciting than over in the Mayan Riviera (you could take a ferry over to the mainland for a day of cavern diving quite...
