    Diving after childhood epilepsy

I've been seizure free for 38 years. I still take a minimum dose of a seizure drug daily and dive. My seizures were sleep induced. The seizures have been fully controlled during the 38 years and the drug has no side effects. At 59 I worry more about heart disease and diving. I've had no...

Any recommendations for dive destination with short boat rides to good locations?

Consider St Croix. The boat rides are 10 to 15 minutes to some great walls. Some operators (SCUBA and Dive Experience) drop you off right in town just steps from the dive shop and lunch spots. If you want tech then stick with SCUBA. Reggie in Midland, NC

    Usvi

I've been there 4 times in September. There was a tropical storm once for a few days then cleared out. The diving was very good, flat seas. You'll have the island to yourself. This is when locals vacation. Reggie in Midland, NC

    DCS or hypochondria?

I'm not a doctor, just a person who suffers from disc disease. Sounds like pinched nerves. How much weight were you carrying on your body including tank, bc, weights, etc? Are you careful on how you stand up and move fully loaded on the surface? Reggie in Midland, NC

    February Dives in St. Croix

I noticed Sweet Bottom at Carambola but the the actual dive was Cane Bay. Are they shuttling folks again to Cane Bay? Reggie in Midland, NC

    Seizures and diving

I had five seizures over a few months when I was 21. No known cause. No more seizures after taking anti seizure medicine for 37 years. I get checked out neurologically every decade with a battery of tests, MRI, sleep deprived EEG. My brain patterns are out of the ordinary compared to the...

I recall back around 2008 there was some widespread coral bleaching What is coral bleaching? but it seems to have recovered. Reggie in Midland, NC

    St Croix in April

Been diving there many times as recent as a month ago. Great visibility absent a storm. I use St Croix Ultimate Blue Water Adventures SCUBA for my boat dives and training. Good shore diving at Carambola, Cane Bay, the pier, and Davis bay. Very little current except for Davis Bay. Water is...

    Beach Diving

I no longer shore dive because my discs can no longer take the weight walking too and from shore. I'll still side-mount from shore in calm conditions where I can carry tanks separately. Reggie in Midland, NC

    Carambola resort?

A very nice place and diving is more than so so. There is a Great Wall there off shore and right down the road is Cane Bay and North Star, all great shore dives. Reggie in Midland, NC

    Hand signals?

I don't dive to look at animals just like I don't walk in the forest to look for critters. It drive me nuts for a tank banger to draw me over to look at some tiny shrimp. Geology is my interest. Reggie in Midland, NC

physiology Q1> why am i tired after diving ?

Interesting discussion. I about drifted off on surface intervals boat diving in February on St Croix. I figured it was conditioning since I was still building strength from a back surgery the previous May. I dove the local quarry yesterday and was better but darn tired after two dives. I'll soon...

    Split Fin Bashing?

Hey Garth.....I'm taking split fins to American Quarry this morning because of the controversy and Jess said they are easier on the legs and ankles. I'm not back finning, and wanted to give them a whirl since I was shamed into paddle fins on my first tec class over a year ago. I'm diving with...

Solo diver looking for dive buddy in St. Croix 4/18-4/23/2014 for shore diving...

I've never seen dive flags used on shore dives with the exception of someone diving solo off of Northstar. Dive flags are not required for shore dives on St Croix. I have shot a surface marker if I hear a boat. Reggie in NC Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Solo diver looking for dive buddy in St. Croix 4/18-4/23/2014 for shore diving...

The pier is great day and night. Same for cane bay, same for Carambola. All three have air fills nearby and all three are great shore dives. I use St Croix Ultimate Blue Water Experience SCUBA for boat dives on the east and west end. Usually I can meet up with someone on the boat and find a...

Nomad Old School Kit - CA

Without getting into a long drawn out discussion on the pros and cons of loops and rings....I just chance out my bungees on my Nomad every spring. Just like I service my regulators and tanks. Reggie in NC Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

    Suggestions for bolt snap removal

Practice, practice, practice. I used to have difficulty doing the same thing. I'd be the first in the water and last out struggling with donning and doffing tanks. 60 dives later and it is more fluid. It is like golf, muscle memory. It is strange at first. Reggie in NC Sent from my iPad...
