    Christmas gift from my wife

I was a holdout on the computer, too. I had to win one (Genesis Resource Pro) in a charity event to get into this century. Having used it for the past 2 years, I must say that it has won me over. You will LOVE IT!

    What if ?

Can you help me reach my "dump" valve, cause I just "vented my bladder" and flooded my drysuit?

    Qualifications beyond OW?

I have been diving for about 15 years, and only have OW. I am not opposed to taking other courses, but for the local quarry, OW seems to suffice. If/When I decide, or am able to dive more exotic places, AOW will possibly be something to consider...but I wouldn't bet on it.

    AOW cert or not?

Identifying problems before they can happen? I have never experienced a significant problem underwater, therefore I guess I am either very good at it, or just lucky! But seriously, the chance for a significant event is always present, even in the tame diving I do. So my son and I discuss...

    AOW cert or not?

Personally,I do not have AOW. I have considered it a few times, but decided against it. I dive almost exclusively with my son in a local quarry, and have only been on one charter (they got a copy of our OW cards, asked for nothing else). We stay in the shallows, 20'-30', and that is about it...

    I'm the Pariah again

:dance3:Why thank you very much. In a thread with so much valuable information, snide/witty banter and downright hostile dialog...I will take that as a complement.

    I'm the Pariah again

I have the sudden urge to take a picture...of a doctor...being berated by a captain...while standing on a pedestal. But dammit...I have NO idea which camera will be best for this!

    I'm the Pariah again

All of this :boxing: and:bash: leaves me:confused:and makes me wanna:banghead:...can't we all just:grouphug: and :beerchug:, instead of:deadhorse:?

Anyone want to go to falling rock this weekend or next?

Jerrod, my son and I usually go to Pennyroyal 3-4 times over the summer. We stay in the shallows and just have fun. Sure wouldn't mind to meet up with you there...and I am sure most others on here wouldn't mind either.

    I'm the Pariah again

I have NO experience with insta-buddies and have never lost sight of my sole diving buddy, so I cannot offer an educated opinion on this. However, I see some excellent responses here. The posters who say that the insta-buddy sitting on the boat while his buddy is looking for him is a complete...

Reasonable to limit bottom time to 45 min?

Personally, I think this is a prime example of what makes this board great. The OP was originally pissed off about what he thought was an unfair practice, that limited his dive time...but through asking about it, he learns that it is a common practice, and gets examples of WHY it was actually a...

    Sherwood Zodiac+

I won a Sherwood Zodiac+ this weekend in a charity event. Does anyone have any experience with this BCD? I really don't think it will be my primary, but I intend to keep it as a back up.

    Cressi Back Jac

I got one about a year ago. I love it! It is a little more bouyant than my old one (about 2lbs more weight), but is very comfortable. I recommend it.

Treading water for 10 minutes - how hard can it be?

I am a fatass, and also a sinker....but only if I stuff a few cannon balls in my BCD.

Accepting Responsibility for Your Own Safety

Personally, I have no problem if someone wants to dive with a DM. If it makes you feel more comfortable, knock yourself out. I think the problem with the original thread that you referenced, and the issues that most of those commenting had a problem with, are that the divers in question were...

Please read these 2 sides of the story and help me pick a better shop next time

Sounds like these idiots were expecting the dive op to cater to them, keep them safe, lead them by the hand and wipe their a$$. Customer service is a good thing, but be responsible for your own safety. "When she headed back, again she did not bother checking our air!!!!!!"...do they not no how...

    Even I Cringed A Little

Danny, that is a huge debate in all scuba circles, unfortunately. Everyone thinks their agency is the best, all others are sub-par. No different from Chevy v/s Ford, Coke v/s Pepsi, tolilet paper feed from the top v/s bottom. PADI is the largest, therefore gets the most criticism. In my humble...

    Medical conditions preventing diving

I think the history of seizures is serious concern, and should probably be a contraindication. The exception I could see is a febrile seizure. These typically happen to infants and toddlers, but are generally a non-issue after that age. Considering my son had a particularly bad one at age 2, I...
